I love both the idea and execution here. They are a glimpse of wildlife, frozen in time, and as much as I adore unencapsulated nature I find it intriguing to gaze upon the eternal “life” of that which we all know to be ephemeral.
They can custom make these spherical wonders with wedding or other special occasion flowers, if you’re the sentimental type (I am…I would very much like to get one).
The gorgeous intricacies of Chinese dragon and phoenix mythology have really caught my attention this past year. Dragon represents benevolent strength and vigilance, true embodiment of positive male (yang) energy. Phoenix is female (yin) energy, a symbol of grace, transformation and rebirth. Together, they dance in a powerful, harmonious intermingling of forces that epitomizes the perfect balance of male and female. Beautiful, isn’t it?
I found these lovely dragon and phoenix coffee cups while searching for a gift over the summer (they even come with matching spoons, shown inside the cups here).
Truth be told, I’d probably find some way to break or injure myself on these things if I were to use them daily at home (I’m a tad on the clumsy side). But I think they’d make an amazing addition to a wedding celebration, given their poignant symbolism. Cups for the bride and groom when it’s cake time!
I had stashed away this Alchemical palmistry hand on a private wish list for a year or two (then I received it over the holidays from a loved one with an uncanny knack for independently finding my coveted items, sans clues).

I confess, I’ve never looked into palmistry. Someone told me as a child that all the tiny X’s on my hand meant a life of extreme tragedy (which, sadly, was pretty spot on in some ways). Never really wanted to see what the rest of my palm said after hearing that lovely assessment.

It took a lot to make me switch my phone wallpaper to something other than my cats back home in NY (whom I miss dearly). A wonderful SWS reader, Denise, gifted me the Jennybird Alcantara Gelaskin I posted about!
Gelaskins are every bit as cool as they look on the website. I put mine on my clunky phone case instead of on the phone directly, because I am notoriously clumsy and this phone is likely to shoot out of my hands like a projectile at any moment.
Look at the subtle stickers on the top and bottom that blend with the wallpaper download (I purposely left the Talk app icon on the top…it looks like the deer is talking). Very cool.

I’ve wanted to open up a blog store for ages but couldn’t physically handle a fraction of the creation work, given my medical situation.
I’m amazed by the incredible kindness of some people in light of my extreme challenges. My friend Eric took it upon himself to make the store happen for me! I sent him raw design material and concepts…he put it all together.
We made a number of designs with the kind of classy, dark vibe that feels like home to me.
Some of the options are made from actual silent film caption cards.
When I’m recovered enough from hand pain to start crafting again I’ll be creating some non-logo, exclusive designs. I can’t wait!

I was given The Wild Unknown Tarot for Christmas (after *very* strongly hinting that I wanted it).
For collectors of interesting decks, this one is unique and well done. The art and concepts, mostly depicted in black and white with occasional splashes of color, work beautifully.

This is too incredible not to post. A recent ebay purchase arrived with this “free gift” in the box…which, due to its high AV (absurdity value), is greater than the purchase itself.
Here we have the bent, aging, awkward package of a thing you shove over your made-up face so your face doesn’t come off on your shirt.
It was the first thing I saw upon opening the package, and I thought “someone must have gotten this awesome find for me as a gift.”
Note the 1988 manufacturing date on the bottom left. I live for bizarre stuff like this.
