Egg-A-Matic Skull Mold

I personally can’t feast on eggs due to a pretty wicked digestive intolerance that developed a few years ago, but that’s no reason to avoid showing the Egg-A-Matic.

Food is great. Things are great. Food shaped like things is great. Especially if skulls are involved. This is one of those products to which my initial response is “If I had kids, I’d definitely get this” and simultaneously “My inner child counts as kids.”

I love how the yolk forms a makeshift brain, which is great for people who want to say they eat brains without resorting to full fledged Zombinism.

For those of marvelously morbid persuasion (who have some money to burn), Vegan Treats has a limited edition box of chocolates just in time for Valentine’s Day entitled Fatally Yours.

Packaged appropriately in a custom black heart with gold-embossed “Fatally Yours”. Each chocolate is delicately handmade and finished in gold leaf before being placed in a custom made insert tray for extra protection before dissecting.

Each box contains:

This chocolate is very well crafted; quite lovely to look at indeed. The $87 price tag makes it a pretty hefty splurge for chocolate, but if anyone has sampled the fine products of Vegan Treats, let me know your review.

My favorite gingerbread piece this year is a fine typewriter by Baked Ideas. Is it wonderful? Almost too beautiful to eat (but I’d manage, don’t worry).

Bonus treat! I used to have this book as a child, but can’t remember the name of the little worm . Does anyone know?

Cereal Killer Cafe

As terrible as I know it is for me, I have a major cereal addition. It’s basically the only thing I never get sick of. A new London restaurant, Cereal Killer Cafe offers a dazzling array of classic and rare cereals.

Twin brothers Alan and Gary Keery have designed a truly amazing tribute to crunchy, boxed morsels worldwide, offering over 60 types of cereal and 30 types of regular and alternative milk (rejoice, ye lactose intolerant!). All milk is offered on the side, so diners can control the exact amount of crunch they desire.

Rare and imported cereals (anyone remember URKEL-O’s? I don’t) are the same price as common ones, which is rather awesome.

The walls are decorated with vintage memorabilia…

And art made of…you guessed it: cereal.

The cafe also features sweet treats and novelties in keeping with their theme.

Jessica Joslin and Conjurer’s Kitchen: Morrigan

Two gifted creators of curiosities, Jessica Joslin and Conjurer’s Kitchen have teamed up to produce a delightfully intricate chocolate sculpture of Joslin’s “Morrigan.”

Last year, the talented Tonya Hurley gave me a piece from Conjurer’s Kitchen, and I can attest to the supreme quality of their work. I could not bring myself to eat my chocolate raven skull; it was simply too pleasant to look at. I’ve kept it as a sculpture.

Handmade from white chocolate, this exquisite piece of edible art comes beautifully packaged in a black box with a small print of the original sculpture.
