Antikamnia Chemical Company Skeleton Figures

Oh Victorian Trading Co., you’ve outdone yourself! The purveyors of new goods with antique style are now producing figurines from the Antikamnia Chemical Company Calendars (which I was certain I posted about but cannot find here at the moment).

Skeleton Diagnosis

     These skeleton figurals are inspired by the watercolour artistry of 19th c. illustrator Louis Crucius, commissioned to create a calendar for the company in 1898.

I do plan to frame some calendar images at some point, and while nobody needs Antikamnia figurines, I think they’d make a fine addition to the home.

If you’re at all familiar with this blog, there are many contenders for “strangest product ever” featured here. But this one really surprised me. I was researching hyperbaric oxygen therapy for serious medical conditions (don’t ask), and for some reason that search contained…drumroll please…

I cannot envision any household or office in which this awkward photo of a gargantuan piece of diving equipment with a random stranger operating it belongs on a throw pillow. Maybe I’m just short-sighted.

And THIS is what graces the tray’s surface. Tell me folks, is this what comes to mind when you’re searching for the perfect wine and cheese serving option?

It’s times like this when I kind of love humanity. It brings me joy to know people are out there producing completely nonsensical items like this.

BoeTech has a selection of dynamite anatomical (and other geektacular) cookie cutters that I would love to use for next year’s holiday cookie batches. I don’t care if they’re not gingerbread men and snowflakes! Who wouldn’t want these cookies?

Of course, these are perfect for any time of year. Personally, I think the hearts make a great wedding cookie…if the wedding indeed has cookies (and I’m aware not all weddings do, but in my ideal world there are cookies everywhere).

These would be my reward for a loved one who comes up with a brilliant idea.

Anatomy of Digestion Plates

At first glance they appear to be trendy, artistically decorated china, but these Anatomy of Digestion Plates are essentially “anatomically correct.”

This unique range of fine china illustrates the anatomy and histology of the digestive system in graphic black and white with hand gilded detail.
The range portrays the intricate anatomical pattern and detail from the teeth to the stomach, intestine and liver.

Each plate is carefully handmade (and there is also a series of matching cups and saucers at the Morbid Anatomy Gift Shop).

When I was little, I used to pretend the teabags in my mugs were fish, swirling them through the water to make them “swim” by pulling on the string.

Aligator Condiment Holder Set

I received a text message from one of my dearest friends, showcasing this fantastic Alligator Condiment Set.

Pottery barn is marketing this as a Halloween product…but to me, it’s an all year kind of thing (hell, I’d put this on a wedding registry). There’s a matching alligator skull that hold a bowl!
