I was just admiring this awesome sculpted aquatic monster bust from GritsFx. Gaze into its unfeeling reptilian eyes…
Check out those gills and the texture of its skin:

Excellent work on this fellow.
This image caught my eye on Pinterest and I was immediately excited about the concept:
At Child’s Own Studio, Wendy Tsao immortalizes the colorful imagination of children by turning their drawings into plush creations.
She does an incredible job bringing any piece of art to life.

I don’t have children, but if I did I would definitely order one or try my hand at this (I’ve made plush versions of my grown up friends’ doodles)! The price is a bit steep ($250), but Wendy’s accuracy is pretty remarkable and it’s clear that a lot of TLC goes into her work.

Look at THIS guy! I wish I could still conjure creatures like this out of thin air!

If you have kids, what drawing would you want to give plushy life to?
I think a series of all of the Haunted Mansion Grim Grinning Ghosts would make an excellent ornament collection.

This image is just perfect: happy tan lady with happy man, angry pale lady, pale lady’s partner not-so-inconspicuously eying her sunkissed rival. Don’tyou want a sun lamp now?

Amazing relationship advice from the folks at Dormeyer: use tears to manipulate your husband into purchasing household items. Maybe if I fake a sense of victimhood I can score a toaster this Christmas.

A man who knows what he wants (even the big Kewpie is looking at him like “Seriously, dude?”):

And by “Merry” I mean “there are bodies in the basement:”

This drenched, freezing Yeti standing in a flood may be the most depressing card ever.

The pudding has broken out in fluid filled pustules.

And now for the piece de resitance (don’t gloss over this one. Take in every detail):

Jon Neill deserves his own post for his fabulous carvings (but alas he will have to share it with some links). Incredible designs:
And now a few other links…
The Blood Curdling Blog of Monsters (a plethora of posts about masks)

My Favorite Spooky Socks This Year (wish-listed!)

Le Chat Noir (Exhibit at Modern Eden Gallery showcasing artwork featuring black cats).

This video is utterly bonkers. They…turned Halloween up to 11.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN, everyone!
I always gather months worth of Halloween items to post, and am unable to fit them all in by the time the big day rolls around. So here are a bunch of assorted goodies!

And a perfect zombie pumpkin by Ray Villafane.

In 1965, Spanish company Laya produced a line of Munsters squeak toys.
Does anyone know why Bugs Bunny is involved in this? I couldn’t find much info about the company.

Interesting color choices for the toys. Though I remember also being surprised when I first saw a color photo of the Munsters (I’m not sure what I expected…real life grayscale?).
Neato Coolville, an all around amazing blog, has been posting a series of Halloween wallpapers for free download. They are full of retro monster goodness!
As a result of my image hoarding “hard drive curating” I have about 200 things on my desktop at any given time, so I need a fairly simple wallpaper in order to see them all. This one fits the bill perfectly.

I’m posting the downsized versions. Click here and scroll around for full sizes!
Danielle Sayer Design sells two versions of this terrific Frankenstein’s monster cross stitch.
Isn’t this a great Halloween (or anytime) addition to a cozy, monster loving household?
Hilary Wallace suggested her portfolio for my Halloween countdown, and I feel it fits.
This was done in colored pencil:
