Vintage Book Covers: Misc 3

The giant radioactive rodent welcomes you to this post. Civilization staggered!

I actually could have made a lot of money this way…

Who WOULDN’T?

Go on with your bad self!

And while we’re on the subject…

Why what a unique cover for a party hosting book. I guess “The New Hostess” sits naked by the fire and cooks the guests to serve on bread.

This is more the usual fare:

Incredible cover.

Careful with that “man-about-town,” Night Club Nurse…

…or you may become:

Stick with:

Here’s another pulp gem. I’m assuming “world’s oldest trap” refers to the woman on the left:

If THIS guy hands you a frog in your pudding, you eat it. You eat it and you shut up.

We’ll end on an uplifting note.

Don’t worry…it gets…well, not better I guess…

Oh fine, go have some:

  1. I don’t know why but the prescription pad that had “Marriage” on it really got me! I almost chocked on my coffee.

    • I’m a compulsive collector of images, so these were just from my personal archives for the most part.

    • Yep…and if you don’t agree she’s a Hell of a Woman…you’ll have to deal with GRANDMA!

  2. I LOVE vintage book covers. I have several calendars that showcase gems like these ones. I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes. My favourite line of yours: I’m assuming “world’s oldest trap” refers to the woman on the left. That’s pure gold.

    • Hahaha…thanks. Make sure you see the rest of the posts in this vintage book cover theme week!

  3. Where did you get all these hillarious books? I work at a library, so this one really hits home for me. Best one I ever saw was “Flicka, Ricka, and Dicka”, a children’s book which no one ever checked out. Bossypants will probably make the list 70 years from now.

    • I’ve just saved entertaining covers in my own archives over the years. You must come across some great gems in the library! The Flicka, Ricka and Dicka books looks hilarious. I hope one of them explains those patently absurd names.

  4. Is there anything in the pudding book that says where I can get a Loch Ness Fisherman’s Club t-shirt like the guy is wearing on the cover?

    Great post… well ties together!

  5. I’m a librarian, and used to work at an inner city library where a 300 pound middle-aged factory worker would borrow about 20 titiles like Dr. Devastating. He’d loudly proclaim “They’re for my wife!”, but we never believed him. 🙂

    • Yeah…pretty much everyone wants a piece of Dr. Devastating and his literary counterparts. 🙂

    • Yes, we’ve come a long way…though this generation certainly has its severe dysfunction embedded in pop culture!

  6. My, what fun!
Thanks for the reminder of a time when reading books was more widespread than today.
Well, maybe it was only the reading of book covers. Even so …

  7. Thank you for uploading these covers.
I have always admired these artistes who tell so much by painting an impression of the book onto the cover.

  8. Holy smoke! Who approved these covers?!? They’re so bad they’re almost good. Thank you for sharing these horrors.

  9. How far we have come, when Fifty Shades of Grey tops the best seller lists…. Funny Stuff. Keep on.

  10. You are currently following my blog, Your Riverside Forum at yourriversideforum.com. I recently switched hosts and attempting to update my email subscriber list. You may or may not have received updates regarding new posts with really long titles; my apologies. I was unable to access the mailing list and your emails were so secure, they were tucked away on my old administrator board. Anyway, The Forum is fully transferred, and I had a chance to cross reference who has subscribed and who has not. Just go to the same URL and sign up. Subscription sign up is the same as on the old site. It’s located in the upper left hand corner of the homepage.

Aside from the same stories, updates, and reports you have come to expect, I have added some new widgets and applications that will make your experience on the Forum interactive, enjoyable, and (for some) lucrative. Chats are will be available either to newer and/or high traffic posts or upon request; at this time they are only available one post at a time.

Also new to the site is ad space. If you have a business or an upcoming event, click on the space (Usually on the right hand side). This new feature will not only get your businesses’ name out there to local readers, it will allow you to sponsor the site. Simply click on the ad space and follow the directions. Since The Forum does not accept direct credit card payments, you can do so using PayPal. It is safe (credit card numbers will not be viewed or stored on the Forum), and sign up is free and easy.

Coming soon, a new and improved policy page!. This will include policies on privacy, submissions, and decorum. I know…EXCITING!

    Thanks for following
