This was created as a Halloween project, but it’s perfect for those who dread the visitor “pop in.” Also great for those spells of intense introversion.

Spooky Shades are the perfect decoration for lovers of dark Victorian style, anatomical art, horror, comics and rock n’ roll (all of which would be welcome in my home).
I’ll take three for my bedroom and three for my library!
Ever wonder how Hell is furnished? Look no further…I have your answer. You’re welcome.
Michel Haillard creates sinister pieces of furniture, inspired by a passion for hunting.
I don’t believe in hunting just for sport, so to avoid intense cognitive dissonance I must believe that these creatures were killed for food, and that every part of the carcass was carefully and responsibly used.
I would also accept the use of dead animals if one were to find them decimated by plague or natural disaster.
Maybe they just died of old age…
Although a tad too opulent for me personally, I think these pieces would be phenomenal on dark, lush movie sets. Haillard could easily furnish an entire villain abode.
What images or characters does this furniture conjure up in your imagination?

Allow me to take a domestic turn for a moment here. This transparent iron is a design I’ve always wished for.
Sometimes I can be a bit impatient when I iron. I’d love the efficiency of a transparent device that allows me to make sure I’m getting the wrinkles out as I go.
Sleek, sexy, tempered glass and electro-thermal wires.
I hope this concept design actually gets produced.
Thought you’d never see anything about Barbara Streisand on this blog, eh? Me too. I’m just full of surprises.
Usually I’m unimpressed by celebrity displays of ostentation, but at least this one is unique. Instead of storing her things in the basement, Streisand has turned the area into a street of shops.
If you are among the infinitesimal minority of the population unconstrained by time, space and finances, I think this is a creative way to categorize important collections.
I couldn’t look at these images without wondering how I would set up my own “street basement”…
My personal street would be lined with an antique shop, oddities museum, art gallery, fabric store, Halloween/spooky shop, craft center, (large) library and candy store. Throw an old fashioned movie theater in there, too.
This print is now sold out (and I wouldn’t have the free wall space to properly display it), but I think it’s absolutely gorgeous.
It comes from Etsy seller AGC916.
I think my favorite thing about this piece is its name: The Companion Mat.
Doesn’t it give you the warm, fuzzy feelings that a good companion should?
It would be interesting to see the faces of visitors encountering this rug upon entering an otherwise welcoming foyer.
I’ve waded through a sea of advertising requests from sites that clearly do not belong on this blog (prefab vinyl siding, drug companies…you name it). So it’s a real treat to have support from sites that make one of a kind, dark delights I would personally add to my own collection of oddities.
I present: The Black Broom, purveyors of fine occult and dark unique wares.
Unique, indeed! Everything on the site is handcrafted and not available elsewhere. You’ll find things for the home, like this Devil Spoon:
Or if you prefer the devil on your wall…
I was really impressed with this necklace version of “The Kiss.” Truly haunting, and superbly crafted.
They carry one of my favorite alchemical symbols, the ouroboros (even the packaging is beautiful).
The roster of infamous man and myth that shows up in their products is worth perusing simply for the history! Gods and villains from a variety of cultures are cast in stone and metal, with a thorough description to accompany each piece (really, you’ll find everything from ancient legends to iconic lowbrow pop art).
You can even have them on buttons for your clothing!
Some objects are classy and refined, with a sinister twist.
…and their skull replicas appear disarmingly real.
Now, even though I’m a cheap bastard, I must say that their prices are quite good for handcrafted objects, meticulously constructed from quality material. A number of these items are going on my wish and gift lists.

This notebook paper bedding definitely appeals to the geek in me (and the old fashioned gal who still actually uses paper to write things down).
