Chocolate Fossils

I’ve been remiss in posting daily due to medical troubles that I’ll briefly detail here at a later date. In the meantime, if you’ve had enough Halloween fun sized candy bars and are ready to move onto something more…paleontological, check out Sarah Hardy’s chocolate tooth fossils!

I would love to stand this T-Rex tooth on my desk and gnaw at it periodically (and by periodically I mean probably finish the whole thing at once).

Oh yes, these are chocolate. Hand molded and painted (with more chocolate).

I hope everyone had a fabulous Halloween! I spent mine thoroughly “stoned” (with kidney stones, that is), though despite being doubled over in pain it was still a very special day (thank you, CP!).

Crafts were limited this year due to illness, but my space was adorned with cheesy effigies to my cats (The resemblance is rather striking):

And a walleyed jack o’lantern named Gruber.

Although I’ll get back to posting some regular SWS material, I adore Spooky Moon’s idea to prolong the Halloween spirit with HALLOWVEMBER! Who says Halloween has to end on the 31st? Rubbish! You may see some ghostly posts pop up here.

Halloween Countdown: My Haunted Body

Sadly, my countdown got derailed for a day. On top of my plentiful standard health problems, I got walloped with three kidney stones that have left me curled up on the bed and unable to concentrate.

But it turns out there are some cool creatures living in my body, as evidenced by my CT scan results. For example, check out this bat!

My guts are also haunted.

What does this one look like to you? In my opinion, a Tapir.

I have no idea what I’ll be feeling like tomorrow, so if I don’t make it on here…HAPPY HALLOWEEN! And thank you all so much for reading.

Gore and shock value can be great for Halloween, but illusions are quite impressive in their own unique way.

Not sure if this is what The Weather Girls had in mind when they belted out “IT’S RAINING MEN! HALLELUJAH!”

Side note: if you haven’t seen the video for It’s Raining Men in a while (or ever), I highly recommend you go enjoy the neon chaos at the cardboard weather station.

There’s something I really love about this. Perhaps the simplicity.

I urge you to drop everything and watch the inimitable Morgan Freeman in the role of a vegetarian vampire (he starred in The Electric Company 45 years ago). Within 10 seconds, you’ll realize the combination deadpan delivery and exaggerated vaudevillian charm is nearly impossible to describe…but utterly fantastic.

Guiseppe Balestra creates spooky pieces inspired by beloved horror stories (new and old).

I encourage you to visit his portfolio and click on the larger versions of each drawing in order to really see the detail of cross hatching and pointilism. His mastery of these techniques is truly among the best I’ve seen in modern illustrators.

Halloween Countdown: Vincent Price- Witchcraft and Demonology

I’m sharing this before even listening to it myself, so I can’t vouch for…well…anything in this recording. But it’s Vincent Price, speaking dramatically (with ghostly sound effects) about witchcraft, so in my opinion there’s not much that can go wrong here.

Halloween Countdown: Chills! Horror! Suspense!

Vintage spookshow posters are fantastic (I have a large collection of them in my image files; I wish I could post them all). This shirt really appeals to me because it’s not only a throwback to the golden era of spookshows…it gets to the point. The hell with subtlety.

Even better? It’s hand screen printed for only $12! Unfortunately, being the elfin creature that I am, an adult “small” T-shirt (the smallest they make) nearly fits me like a dress…perhaps I will have to create my own.

I meant to watch this as part of my Halloween season last year, but never got to it. There were a bunch of free full episodes on the BBC website, but when I attempted to play them I got an error message stating that the content is unavailable in my country.
