Now here’s a novel idea: the edible wedding dress.
This is more like a performance art piece! I wonder if she screams as people cut into it…
And I can’t even imagine all the work that went into a checkered cake of this size.
Seen on Neatorama.

This one is for my dad, and the other Star Trek fans I know.
Kellogg’s has surprised fans with waffles that have edible images on them of Star Trek characters, planets, logos, phrases, and technology. There are more than 25 different waffles available with this limited edition item.
Naturally, they came out in conjunction with 2009’s Star Trek movie (wouldn’t it be wonderful if vintage movies were randomly selected for artistically rendered waffles, without a remake to market?).
I like the retro feel of the images…
It’s quite a dilemma for collectors though. Eat them? Photograph them? Try to find some sort of high tech preservation method?
Designed to promote their Kofli collection (which features coffee on the inside), these brilliant ads from Italian chocolate company Zaini feature a series of caffeinated animals.
I think I’d have a wonderful time modifying standard chocolates to look more like these.
I apologize if this is in poor taste during such a warm, festive time of year. But I’m pretty floored by these edible marzipan babies.
Yes, these creepy little confections are made of sugar and almond meal. Not sure I could bring myself to eat one…
How could I not love these science themed holiday cookies?
It looks like a lot of work went into these. Very nice.
It’s that time of year again! That joyous time in an oddity blogger’s life when awful religious parephrenalia starts popping up in relation to the holidays (and time for disclaimers about how this blog does not intend to offend or insult anyone’s faith).
The other day I somehow found myself internally exclaiming the phrase Christ Cakes! when someone cut me off in traffic. Don’t ask me why.
But now I give you…CHRIST CAKES!
I encountered a number of images wishing Jesus a happy birthday, like this 1970’s plastic doormat…er…cake. Someone got a little crazy with the star shaped icing tube attachment.

I think I saw this guy at Whole Foods…

Eat this hazard at your own risk. May cause severe hemorrhaging.

Are you ready for this? Wait for it…
RED SOX CHRIST! (Johnny Damon Cake)

The Thanksgiving cake disasters are out in full force! I love the creative liberty that supermarket bakeries take with anatomical structure. My morning grocery store trip brought me to this fellow right here:
It looks like a tiny turkey head on a dirt hill…or a bird with some serious glandular dysfunction.
My partner in culinary crime gave me a fantastic idea the other day: Thanksgiving Recipe Remix Countdown. I’m rather unnerved by the true politics behind this holiday, so let’s focus on two things I stand behind 100%…good food and gratitude.

I’d like to make/post some unconventional recipes that involve traditional Thanksgiving dinner ingredients (turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, potatoes, squash, etc.).
So this is my open call for recipe submissions. Please send me your favorite interesting autumn comfort food ideas, and let’s get this thing started.

I haven’t decided exactly how to honor the participants in this little project yet, but I promise it’ll be fun. So send away!
I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween.
There was some awesome teamwork on this guy:

Company for horror movies:

My day was low key and filled with treats (like this Boo Berry cake):

The cereal texture was actually a bit chewy, which I didn’t expect, but they were quite good.

Another highlight of the day was seeing these two chocolate moose in a Vermont candy store. Without antlers or accessories, this fellow weighs close to ten pounds more than I do:

And his lady friend…

Um…“Open Cuts, $12?” Not a Halloween special, I fear.

It seems like most people are thankfully relaxing now that Halloween has passed, but I don’t quite feel done with the whole season yet. I’d like to stretch it out a few more weeks.
