Olga Noskova’s impossibly shiny “mirror” cakes are…to use a phrase I’m not entirely crazy about…blowing up to the Internet right now. With good reason.
The glaze consists of gelatin powder, various forms of sugar and condensed milk. Who knew what an incredible effect that could create in the right proportions?
Even the multilayered inside of these cakes has a beautiful presentation.

For those outside the US, here’s a cake that was supposed to be Thanksgiving themed…but I can’t, for the life of me, figure out what it’s supposed to be. This abomination transcends cultural boundaries. Any guesses?
This would be the perfect cake for a Halloween party (the “bloody” syrup coating is a nice touch).
Apparently this was done in honor of The Walking Dead (which I admittedly stopped watching a couple seasons ago because I started getting bored with it…zombies are very overdone these days so it takes a lot to keep my attention).

As someone easily entranced by patterns in art…and cake in general…and as a diehard Jungian, I adore Stephen McCarty’s mandala cakes.
I believe these are raw, vegan confections (a culinary area I know very little about, but should probably explore due to food allergies. These cakes are luring me into inspired exploration).
It’s meditative art you can eat! Amazing.

After the holiday weekend, food might be one of the last things you want to look at, but trust me…these cakes from Choccywoccydoodah will be an exception. These are are some of the most unique, quirky, finely crafted cakes in the world.
Their website does contain ready to order items, but the bespoke cake gallery (where all of these images come from) showcases the highlights of their talent.
Unfortunately, my dreams of one day gracing an event of my own with one of these masterpieces will most likely never come to fruition, as the shop is located in the UK and does not ship to the US.
