Floating in the Spam River…

I had a problem with wordpress recently, and no comments or notifications for this blog were sent to me for months (sorry if you left a comment and didn’t get a response! It should be fixed now). I’m also drowning in massive piles of spam comments that are very tedious to weed through in order to get the real messages. But some of them are so nonsensical and entertaining that they actually work as material for the blog itself.

Here’s a favorite:

For a while, I was getting random facebook comments people left for each other…as comments to my posts. I was smothered in things like “Hey Nicole! Great to see you at the gym the other day!” Not sure how or why that could even happen.

And the ever-popular topic of conversation (click to enlarge):

  1. Hello, I’d like to report my new coffee machine broke as soon as I took it out of the box. I dropped it twice but it’s not my fault. Could I speak to someone about getting a full refund or maybe free bacon for a year?

I keep getting notice for one post especially that I commented on: “Bizarre and Creepy Vintage Christmas Cards.” Anyone can take a look there and see that some spambot is putting up lawyer info, car sales, skincare… and the comments are somehow supposed to make us forget the name of the commenter is usually some weblink .

I get surprisingly few spam notices to delete when I was proxy posting, but I can imagine how smothering this can be Dana. If there is a way my admin access can be modified to delete the spam, I’d be happy to help you clean things up.

BTW, This was my fave. Duh. WordPress. Hello!

“Great weblog here! Additionally your site so
much up very fast! What web host are you using? Can I am getting your associate hyperlink for your host?
I want my web site loaded up as quickly as yours

  4. I’m sorry you’re getting so much spam. I guess some techno-blocker thing has gone bust somehow?
