Tacky Taxidermy Week, Day 2: “Zoologically Improbable”

Now let’s have a look at some creatures who appear to be experiencing emotions or postures that do not, in reality, exist in the animal kingdom as we know it.

The whole lower half of this one is more disturbing than its nonplussed face.

  1. You’re so right, that is absolutely one of the best signs. ‘Waiting by the principal’s office’ made me laugh. The dancing gopher-Ewok thing is cute, I guess, for dead animal parts. Reminds me of the adorable Caddyshack gopher, my favorite character in the comedy movie other than nutty Carl, played by Bill Murray. Holy geez! That was 1980!!! Actually that movie had a joyous memorable impact for me, because that was the year I didn’t die from getting hit by a car. Remember? The theme song by Kenny Loggins “I’m alright” became my mantra song as kid, so happy and appreciative to be alive. I think everybody should have a life-death experience. It does a soul good. Anyway, I met KL once at an organic health food product convention. Quick meet and greet passing me. Super nice man, and very holistic and spiritual, too.

As someone who has confronted death a number of times, I agree. I’d like to stop confronting it though. πŸ™‚

  2. That little critter with the big balls is a tanuki;) he’s thought to bring good luck(not for him though). Dana, I feel bad for these critters… I can’t believe anyone who really couldn’t remember what they looked like in life was allowed to touch them in death… And that moose! *shudders* I like the sitting fox, he’s cute. Reminds me of a character from that stop motion movie, “Fantastic Mr.Fox.” Heehee

  3. Not keen on taxidermy, good or bad – and so much of the bad stuff is rubbish because it’s been mounted by ‘hobby’ taxidermists (ie, hunters wanting to preserve their kills).

However I have to make an exception for ‘Sitting Fox’ (aka ‘Stoned Fox’) who is definitely roadkill, according to his creator (which, she says, is partly why he looks so… ahem… unique) and has not only been an internet sensation:

But has also cause a rift in Anglo-Russian relations when displayed in St. Petersburg:

Now you have to admit, that’s a very busy life for one dead fox… πŸ˜‰ -Nx

  4. Very well said, KEric! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    • Thanks, Neta, thoughtful of you. For a second there I was worried only nine o’s was rude. πŸ˜‰

  5. Hahaha! That sign! Can’t fault them for honesty!

JJG, I thought of you when I saw that sign. Seemed to be something you’d get a kick out of!
