Tacky Taxidermy won the theme week contest! So here we go!
Sometimes there is just a *little* something off about the taxidermy creatures we encounter…
But others are downright SASSY AND FIERCE!
I welcome captions for any of these!
SWS does NOT endorse the mistreatment/killing of animals for art! I make an effort to post only ethical taxidermy in which the animals were already deceased. If you somehow discover that one of these creations actively harmed the creature involved, please let me know so I can remove the image immediately.

❤ ❤ <3!! I want every single one! Last weekend, Mike found a black bear that was a bit tacky but he said we didn't have the room…my heart is still breaking! I knew I should have gone!
Norman Bates would be proud… sorta, he’s a perfectionist.
I’m bittersweet about the whole thing. I can’t really find enjoyment in the mutilated desecration of an animal, even if it’s already dead ages ago, on some shelf. I guess at least it’s a good thing there’s people out there who can love such a thing. Unfortunately taxidermy promotes hunting and trappers, the bloody-thirsty-pieces-of-crap they are, and I can’t get past that. But I do love the bottom caveat; that only confirms to me that you’re every bit the wonderful person I’ve come to know and cherish, D. 🙂
I get *extremely* upset at the thought of animals harmed for senseless reasons, including art. I think I can appreciate these creatures because they were most likely a heartfelt effort to pay tribute to the animal and honor its life. Just…not done with, you know, talent.
Or maybe I’m being naive and the intentions weren’t that beautiful. In which case…the hell with those beastly humans.
I’m amazed at all the subtle and not so subtle ways this stuff can go wrong. There’s clearly a very fine line between fierce and utterly mad. It’s all in the eyes!
