Desktop Goodies 3/20

Let’s start with an amazing real life Batmobile pig shaped food truck! I’ve never seen anything like this. Completely awesome.

And speaking of bats, this was actually a political cartoon of yesteryear:

When was the last time you saw a bat in striped boxer shorts?

Does anyone know the artist for this painting? I love the color scheme and lighting.

Excellent parenting:

“Gee, it’d be mighty swell if you’d be my date for the apocalypse!”

I feel like I’m looking into my future:

Don’t be fooled by brilliant marketing, ladies…I’ve worn apple scented perfume for 15 years and have yet to be bitten.

Who are YOU going to believe?

Where I sneak away at night…

Next time you’re on a boat, remember that this is exactly what’s going on underneath you.

LOVE these gentle specters:

A photo that takes my breath away:

This is an actual Victorian dress, as far as I know. I’d love to meet the woman who wore this color during that era.

And while we’re on the topic of vintage attire, this is what women used to wear before we only had the option of prepackaged “slutty hornet.”

(2012 versions often cover less than a swimsuit and have titles like “Queen Bee-otch”…I’m not kidding)

The “magpie” costume actually looks very much like my prom dress in 1997.

This costume beats them all though (insert choice pun about “hamming it up”).

The end.

I believe this is Graham Ingels of pulp comic fame such as Tales from the Crypt and Haunt of Fear.

“Next time you’re on a boat, remember that this is exactly what’s going on underneath you.”

This is why you won’t catch me swimming in any body of water where I can’t see the bottom. This is what I’m picturing.

    Mockingjay?

And the answer is Rhinoceros. Obviously. :)

    • It IS Graham Ingels! Thank you so much! I’m very familiar with both of those comics, but hadn’t seen this particular image.

…and due to my extreme fascination with deep sea creatures I know there are things far more horrifying than that she-monster beneath the surface. I stay clear of ocean swimming myself.

I always love these goodies! I also am not a ocean swimmer. I am the one who’d be gobbled up by a sea creature. Never had the desire for an adventure on a cruise ship. Not much into flying either. I like to be on solid ground. I’d be the one tucked away in that tree, with it’s roots digging into the earth, reading a good book.

  3. Wonderful collection! I really like that Bat Mobile. It looks like a caravan spliced with another van. Also lovin that tree house. Cosy!

  4. Hahaha! I can see where you see the “bat”, but it’s actually a “pig” food truck here in Seattle named Maximus / Minimus, serving pulled pork sandwiches and other pig products cooked on board. Here’s their site… http://maximus-minimus.com/index.htm

    • I can always count on you for GREAT info, Jo! Thanks so much! I guess I never considered the possibility of a…silver pig. Seemed more of a bat color to me!

  5. Dana, that Victorian dress was more than likely worn by a woman who was “Half-mourning.” A year after the funeral, the woman was permitted to wear colors like gray and purple.. For the first year, she didn’t have much of a palette to work with… black and well, black. heehee.. Still, very beautiful dress. I just wouldn’t want a vintage one.. yuck…. for obvious reasons.

  6. Your posts always bring me to amazing creepy places I wish ACTUALLY existed. Esp. that tree in the woods. Oh man, what better place to LIVE?!

  7. Contrary to what the good people at Iver Johnson may say, accidental discharge is highly possible. And it usually leaves a tough stain.

Is there a source for the ghosts walking up the stairs or the underwater woman thingy ?
