Leslie Ann O’Dell uses photography and digital manipulation to create haunting portraiture, often with superimposed landscapes.
All of her pieces seem to create a simultaneous feeling of strength and vulnerability in her subjects.
Although most work incorporates photography, some pieces are entirely constructed/painted/illustrated from imagination.
Dark, delicate, sensual, mystifying…
Luca Luce is a makeup and visual artist who creates incredible illusory hand art.
He blurs dimensions and space, sometimes with the use of little “props” to complete his designs.
…and sometimes through pure technique and perspective.

Manifestation was the first painting I saw from Michael Ramstead. I love this representation of the colorful, boundlessly imaginative world we inhabit in our peaceful altered states.
Other works are slightly more menacing…
…or alien.

Although he’s a talented portrait artist, many of his pieces combine pop culture, technology, cryptids, ghosts and nature (as you may have guessed, those are my favorites.
Today I bring you two safe-for-work paintings by Lorenzo Alessandri, better known for his grotesque, controversial surrealist pieces.
He was unafraid to tackle horror, death, politics, sexuality and just about any uncomfortable subject. But I’m partial to his monster paintings.
Finding information on Russian surrealist painter Aleksandr Kosteckij is no easy task. Perhaps there are simply no English websites with pertinent details.
His dreamworlds lure the viewer in, as the eye feels the familiarity of recognizable shapes that subsequently blend into alien structures that intrigue and confuse.
Is it just me, or do you instinctively try to piece the images together? To create a kind of narrative composition in this detailed work…only to find it utterly impossible?

Juli Adams has made me wonder what it would be like to have a floating manatee as a pet. I would give him plenty of air to flap around in. I think it could work out.
In her work we can see magical echoes of her past, growing up in a secluded area where the surrounding land held many secrets (I love how she cites the outdoors as a personified character that helped shape her).
I probably would have loved this mobile as a child.

Ironically, I haven’t posted about many of my very favorite artists here. I tend to post new links as I come across them, or scan the hundreds of websites in my bookmark queue. Artists like Leslie Ditto have been bookmarked in my “artist” folder (a separate entity with upwards of 1,000 links) for many years and consequently, despite their brilliance, get glossed over.
But who could not adore her beautiful candy coated nightmares?
