The *Original* Turducken Ornament

Deck the halls with loaves of poultry!

All the turducken buzz this year inspired me to make:
*THE ORIGINAL TURDUCKEN ORNAMENT*

(It really loses something in the photo, sadly)

The moment anything hits the internet, profitable imitations start to surface. I may be opening a gigantic Pandora’s Box of turducken crafts (a comical idea, for sure). For once I’m staking claim. All too often, someone emails me with an etsy link saying “Didn’t you make this last year?”

If you want to order one, handmade with love and painted stuffing, contact me and ye shall receive…at least until my fingers cramp up from the sewing. ($15 US)

I’m very touched by this sweet little duo.

I personally prefer a world bespeckled by pretty, lumpy gumballs.

Isn’t that the way love goes? Our beloved’s perceived imperfections shine as celebrations of their uniqueness.

Zombie Plush

The wide world of zombies offers so much material that I have to carefully narrow my topic or I could easily spin this into a separate blog altogether. Therefore, I bring you my personal favorite finds in the arena of zombie plush, mostly because I would be churning out zombie plushies of my own right now if I were home in NY with my craft supplies.

Penguin Zombie gets bonus points for unlikely animal choice:

Dia de Los Plush

If I were anywhere near Phoenix, AZ, I would definitely attend the Dia de Los Plush at Red Hot Robot.

I’m going to have to seek out more Dia de Los Muertos art because I’ve always loved it. This is the first time I’ve seen the tradition celebrated in plush!

My Pet Neuron Postscript

Allow me a childish moment, if you will. Months ago I made Sparky, my pet neuron. I just found out that Giant Microbes (a company I love dearly), now makes THIS!

Let’s take a look side by side, shall we?

It’s not like they ripped me off. The plush neuron is simply an idea that has reached it’s proper time for creation in the order of the universe.

The child in me pouts at the fact that I seem to be forever JUST ahead of this order. I make strange products, only to discover that someone else has independently created a nearly identical product…and is reaping serious financial benefit as my version sits happily on a shelf or wall, reaping dust and the occasional entertained smirk from visitors.

Meet Sparky. He’s a Motor Neuron, and my first foray into crafting plush brain cells.

He’ll be a nice companion as I journey through the next few years of Behavioral Medicine and Clinical Psychophysiology studies.

Note: I haven’t posted my own arts and crafts until now. Let me know if you’d be interested in seeing more. I make…everything. Almost. And I love project requests.
