One of my readers was kind enough to submit this image of a costume she made for her baby. The genius is in the subtlety and perfectly surreal execution.
I present: SPIDER BABY!
People have actually tried to hold the artificial hands while the baby was wearing this costume. How I would have loved to catch those priceless moments of confusion and surprise.
Thanks, Lene! Great job!
Let’s start with a few old fashioned hairstyling devices…
You’re never too young to start paying a miserable price for beauty.
This enticing image was a recent Suicide Food entry:

Precursor to the gold mine of sports drinks:

Although it was technically on Cake Wrecks, I think this cake is pretty great:

And for some reason this piece appeals to me.

Party hat for the cephalopd inclined?

I would very much like to have this product by my bathtub:

Great new mandala designs by Shepard Fairey:

Don’t you feel better, now that the anatomy has been explained? (I think I found this on Monster Brains…not sure)

Let’s put 20 seconds on the clock and see how many things we can find wrong with this picture. Okay…20 minutes…

Here’s something to get your mind off the Cabbage Patch dolls:

Halloween Countdown starts tomorrow so give me a hand with suggestions (*groooooan*)…

Oops…this was in my draft folder for quite a while. What a great concept for hardcore NES fans and old school gamers. Brilliantly executed design!
Happy 25th birthday, Nintendo!
Talk about perfect placement! I’m sure we’ve all thought “If only I had the perfect place for my deer sculpture and my thermos…”
Well, Misha Kahn constructed a very unique and personal storage system.
Apparently he surveyed the random objects in his apartment, printed out life size cut outs, and assembled them into a giant thought bubble that served as a construction blueprint.
Constructed of laser cut mdf, and pink foam, then fiberglassed and coated with molded polysterene. The interior is painted and flocked, with hardwood (dovetailed) drawers, and door. Stands 7 feet’ 6” inches high.

After my local craft stores discontinued to stock the main color, and I embarked on countless fruitless searches, I’ve finally located the (albeit more expensive) craft felt color I need for The *Original* Turducken Ornament.
This means, orders are BACK ON for this holiday season!
This is just an initial heads-up, but here’s the original post with contact link if you’d like to place an early order.
I was rather captivated by The Utilitarian Franchise on Etsy. Here we find a collection of silk screened vintage designs, on pillows and wall hangings.
Ah, to lay one’s weary head down on an image of antiquated science!
He strikes a nice balance between antique and modern.
It’s almost too predictably up my alley.

The heart design is also available for the wall…

Here is another invention that is absolute genius in its simplicity. I refuse to give up my habit of reading printed books despite the profusion of nifty E-readers emerging, and I always have a pencil in my hand for underlining and notes.
This “Constrained Ball” by Giha Woo allows the user to draw lines and measure them at the same time. So it’s not only great for simple underlining, but can be a useful design tool as well.

Rarely do I get a chance to feature exceptional toilet art, but Headless Designs has some toilet seats that are almost too nice to actually use.
Classy, kitschy, funky, rock n’ roll…there’s something for everyone (well, maybe not everyone, but there is some thematic variety).
People out there actually buy golden or marble toilets. I say, support art instead.
See the toilet gallery here.

Gather ’round, Geeklings! Crooked Brains just posted a fantastic roundup of various periodic table renditions. They included the Periodic Table duvet cover I posted previously.

I would absolutely hang this in my kitchen.
