I accidentally deleted the Banksy Megapost I spent *forever* on last night! Now I have to try to muster up the energy to post it all again. Maybe one day soon…

Well folks, today marked my trip to see The Fly. It was wonderful. I’m glad I got to see the final performance before it closed.
I wasn’t crazy about Howard Shore’s decision to make the entire score atonal and without melody (I tend to dislike “lavish musical” melodies, but the score could have better engaged the brain if were a bit more cohesive).
Maybe I’m just a Philistine who doesn’t know the first thing about quality sci-fi opera.
I did get to hear retro-style telepods with operatic vocals. “Subject: carbon based life form…transmission complete…teleportation successful…”
That was probably a once in a lifetime experience.

Due to personal tragedy, I have to put this blog on a brief hiatus. I’m spending as much time as possible in the hospital with my mother as her long and difficult cancer battle comes to an end. Depending on the situation, I may start posting as a way to unwind. I’ll be sure to spread the word when things are up and running again.
In the meantime, my heart stays with the one who inspired a lifetime of creativity and compassion in me:

I came across Naoto Hattori’s work in Juxtapoz magazine back in the 90’s, and have periodically checked up on his latest creations ever since.
He makes swirling amalgams of humans, animals, aliens, dolls, plants…intertwining like a grand mad scientist DNA experiment.

Since our days of eccentric youth, my best friend Ron has been drawing pictures. And now he has a blog so these delightful creations can be archived. I DARE you to resist his unique interpretation of human anatomy, coupled with the characteristic “chest lines” (we still don’t know why they exist). You’ll be surprised at the amount of humor, commentary and SOUL! Pay him a visit:
