On principle, I’m opposed to spending close to $2,000 for a simple dress. But this Celestial Combo Dress is giving me some ideas about what I might be able to make for myself…
I vow to make a celestial cocktail dress for under $20. It can be done.

Okay, here are two totally unrelated things I just came across. If you really use your imagination, they fit right into the Halloween Countdown.
First, look at this fruit bat. Check out that tubular nose! This guy is a cut above your generic Halloween bat in terms of personality. I’m constantly tempted to imitate how (my twisted brain believes) he talks:
Next, the anatomically correct Stay Puft Marshmallow Man from Jason Freeny.
On the flip side, we have this extremely INCORRECT rendition of pumpkin anatomy, featured on The Surfing Pizza. This toy was placed in the perfect category of “Not Really Evil, But Kind of a Jerk.”
Never thought you’d get to see a rubber, rabbit-faced, four-limbed, lanky, pumpkin-headed creature, riding upright on a bike with more than a healthy dose of road rage despite the gigantic lollipop on board? VIOLA! Thanks, Pizza!
Now, the Claws Will Tear Us Apart shirt. A favorite animal, a favorite album, a clever image:
Granted, every elusive cryptid on record has had more sightings than SheWalksSoftly in a bathing suit. But if I had the courage to show some skin, it would be fun to wear something like this (note: I do not have the courage).
Dead sexy.
I’ve been getting a craving to paint on clothing and shoes…
Why do I like this shirt design? Is it the combination of apocalyptic themes and sea creatures? Most likely.
I would absolutely add these to my collection of odd toys if someone were to develop them as action figures. Possibly a future craft project for me. Hmmm…plush or sculpture?

Here are a few of my favorite female shirt designs.
Those three are definitely on the wish list.

Some of you may know, I do not have the stereotypical female lust for shopping. But I have an odd love of interesting socks. Most days my socks are plain black, yet I’ve developed a bit of a collection for special occasions. I should really ask Sock Dreams if they want to sponsor this blog!
Here are the latest on my wish list:
Chat Noir Knee Highs (I already have this painting on a poster and shirt)

These might be a little high on the cute factor for me to purchase (after all, I only like to bust out a full-on *cute* accessory a few times a year), but I can smile at them from afar.
Perhaps I just like the idea that someone chose a Manatee as a sock subject.

Since I can’t blow close to $100 on socks to get them all…does anyone have particular favorites out of these? I’m leaning toward Peacock Feathers and Chat Noir at least.
As a tiny picked-last-in-gym-class woman, I can’t wear a “sporty” shirt without instantly turning myself into a walking piece of ironic comedy. However, I could wear these Novel-T shirts with pride! Literary geekiness FTW!
They have some great authors. I’d love to see Huxley, Nabokov and Orwell in the collection too.

The Various Et Sundry Etsy shop posted this design that caught my eye. I’m tempted to get this shirt:
And although I hate to be so predictable, I obviously like this one:
Some of the designs are just plain random and strange (in a fun way):
The shop is worth a look for fans of unconventional T-shirts.
Just because we’re teetering on the edge of spring doesn’t mean it’s a bad time to browse some Halloween goodies. Every so often I like to take a look through Skeletons and More, purveyor of high-quality anatomical charts, books, models and related products for the human/veterinary health markets…and Halloween props.
The custom prop section has some great lighting schemes.

They carry some unique masks as well.

Now you can blind people with science via this sweet T-shirt:

Mmm…how a love a pair of nice blue eyes…(they actually put these in the “gift” section next to books and socks!).

Take a look at more fun stuff here.
I’m pretty entertained by the current NY IFC Center shirts on display; indie film directors revered in the style of rock band logos.
If you’re a metal fan AND you’re into indie film, it’s your lucky day. I’d like that Herzog shirt.
You can get them here.
