Hine Mizushima is responsible for my favorite unique holiday wreath this year:
Her collection of plush work is impressive, to say the least.
And the 2D work is adorable as well:

Tons more on her Flickr site and website.

The holidays are upon us…so I’m cleaning out a folder of bookmarks labeled (I’m not kidding) “STUFF.” This folder contains objects I think are fun, but can’t really justify buying for myself because they’re not exactly necessary.
Who knows? Maybe this will help someone’s gift selections…
Computer Code Briefcase, for the quirky geek in your life:
The Torture Device Coloring Book, for the morbidly inclined artist:
The Astro Mitt. Okay, this is awesome:
Trying very hard not to spend $17 on this A Christmas Story Ornament (come on…triple dog dare me not to!):
And bandages!:
Or for comic book fans:
Nintendo Keychain Set, for the retro game lover:
Robot Key Toppers. Great for differentiating between your keys.
During a brief stop at Borders bookstore, I found myself exclaiming “Sweet glittering Jesus!”
And I meant it entirely literally.
Paperchase is now selling products at Borders, and among them you will find some of the sparkliest religious superstars on the shelves this season. The photos don’t do justice to how they glimmer in the light.
Jesus also comes in black (apparently they are money boxes, but at first I didn’t realize they served a purpose).
Mother Mary comes in blue and pink.
Although it was the absurdity of these kitschy disco icons, Paperchase really does have some cool products. Check out their other Christmas decorations here.
I have a limited quantity of ornaments for sale this year, if anyone is looking for a cheap little gift and would like something slightly out of the ordinary.
I apologize for the awful photos. All ornaments look much better in person!
THE KRAMPUS ORNAMENT:
For those who enjoy the darker side of the holidays, a Krampus would be a perfect tree adornment!
2″ X 3″ X 1/2″ cedar block, subtle red glitter background with a slight gloss finish, decoupage vintage Krampus illustration and bow detail. Black felt covers the back.
$6 + $2 packaging/shipping
TECH TREE:
Got a tech geek in your life? Why not give a Tech Tree?
4″ X 3″ painted wood with circuit board pattern, “wiry” garland and glitter star.
$4 + $2 packaging/shipping
And of course…
Info on that one here.
Please contact me to place an order. I only have a few of each (and won’t be making more due to other holiday obligations), so order soon!
Paypal, check, money order (or cash if you feel comfortable sending it in the mail).
After my local craft stores discontinued to stock the main color, and I embarked on countless fruitless searches, I’ve finally located the (albeit more expensive) craft felt color I need for The *Original* Turducken Ornament.
This means, orders are BACK ON for this holiday season!
This is just an initial heads-up, but here’s the original post with contact link if you’d like to place an early order.
I could wait another 11 months for the Christmas season to roll around again and post this, or just admit that I came upon this series of cards a little late.
Here were have the politicization of Yuletide’s beloved figurehead. Santa is rarely pictured with a machine gun nowadays. I love these ephemeral renditions of an otherwise unchanging legend.
Of course, we also have the delightfully retro-futuristic Russian Space Santa.
Here’s a little grab bag of random things I came across…
Were people really this glowing and happy decades ago?

If you haven’t made a habit of browsing vintage holiday ads the way I have, you might be surprised at the proliferation of firearms.
Ah yes, peace and goodwill toward mankind…isn’t this the true embodiment of the season?

This is my favorite; the basis of yearly holiday photos this time around (no, that’s not my real hair).

Bet you didn’t know orange was a Christmas color. Love the TWO sets of quotation marks, too.

Now this is a gift I would have wanted:

And here’s a gift for the ladies that hovers somewhere between a daisy and a medieval torture device:

Love this shirt from Kawaii Not:

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, EVERYONE!
Sometimes life gives us pleasant synchronicity. I was planning to post my old collection of Russian spaced themed Christmas cards, and woke up to an email from Vlad containing a portion of the cards in my collection…and then some!
I’m not sure why I love the combination of outer space and Christmas so much. Perhaps it’s because if we’re going to celebrate a man who defies the laws of physics, why not go ALL OUT with it?
I could easily use up my image space by posting many more…but I’ll hold off.
