Meghan Howland

I have plenty to post this week, but my commentary may be extra sparse because on top of my regular medical issues I have what can only be described as a caricature of a cold…I’m the “before” person in the NyQuil commercials. It’s ridiculous.

Anyway, have a look at Meghan Howland’s work.

Many of her images involve birds in flight, obscuring the faces of her subjects…or wild flowers in rampant bloom. Rather fascinating.

  1. I hope you’re feeling better right away.

  2. Oh Dana, not a cold on top of everything else? That’s just too unfair! Hope you’re feeling much better very soon.

LOVE these paintings! I have a little list of Art I Will Buy When I Get Rich (well I can dream…) and Howland’s work is going on it – at the top! Beautifully creepy, or creepily beautiful – just beautiful anyway – and so skillfully executed (And I think I read she’s only 28??? Definitely one to watch.) -Nx

  3. I really like the warm, rich, antiquated tonalities and the obscure ethereality of nature and humans mingling. The flowers are gorgeous, as flowers always are, but I’m partial to the little blonde boy with the black birds, reminds me of myself feeding crows. I still do actually, in the warmer seasons they usually will come when I call, which is a couple of hard bangs on my wood deck. They love cat food mixed with spaghetti noodles. Yummy huh?

  4. Bless you KEric. Most people fear corvids and drive them away. They’re really such beautiful birds though, and deserve our respect. -Nx

  5. Wow. Skill. Ethereal. Love the birds. Looks like painting from a different era.

Hope your pre-Nyquil days are over soon. 🙂

  6. These are so beautiful!
