I really like something about Mike Peter Smith’s skull sculptures.
Perhaps I can’t help but find meaning in the art pieces I enjoy. I was just pondering the worlds we build in our heads…and here it becomes literal…

I do hope when I’m all bones my skull noggin will be nice enough for a little community to live up on ๐
There are wonderful worlds within that skull of yours, dear Carrie. You would get a castle! ๐
It would be cool to have a cemetery with little skeletons buried inside this skull. And in every skull in that cemetery, a whole village upon those skulls… Would a collection of skulls make a state, or principality, or be so vast as to broaden into a continent? Wonderfully maddening to think!
Haha…how fun to think about that…
Oh wow, scrolling down that third was a bit of shock. I’m pretty sure I grimaced!
Yes, the “roots” on the bottom are the freakiest part. Almost looks like a creature that would show up on YOUR blog!
Eerie, but strangely compelling! I can’t help but like them! Great post.
Thanks! They are kind of compelling once you realize what’s going on.
