Skelewags is a wonderful little project where art meets environment. Creator Richard Vermaak describes his characters as having a kind of “doomed innocence.”
This started out with the search for interesting textures to use as backdrops for the scenes and quickly progressed to the point of interpreting the surfaces or objects from a different perspective.
Designing within restrictions encourages creativity and right from the start. I established rules pertaining to the creation of the Skelewags. Neither the photographs nor the environments are allowed to be altered, propped or edited in any way.
There is also an Alice in Wonderland series of designs.

i cannot even explain how in love i am with the style of these. plus, i feel like I’ve seen one before.
Very glad you like them!
These are utterly delightful! They’re sure to brighten up one’s day. In London we have all sorts of giant art projects around the place, but little things like this have a charm they could never match.
I would be so happy to spot something like this while out and about. Same with the anonymous book sculptures I posted about a while ago!
Clever little creatures.
Yes, they may be tiny…but they’ve got such personality!
Do you know Slinkachu’s “little people”-street installations? http://little-people.blogspot.de
Yes, I’ve seen these delightful little things!
I would love to come across one of these little pieces!
I always love when artists leave random or anonymous pieces for people to find. What unexpected joy it can bring to a person’s day.
