ARYZ

Years ago, I saved this lovely little box of skeletons by Spanish artist ARYZ, not knowing who the artist was (neither did Google image search at the time).

I eventually stumbled upon the image again, properly credited, which allowed me to delve into his small scale prints and street art, all of which I was quite fond.

He paints giant murals, often on the sides of abandoned factories where he can have time to work undisturbed. Despite the high volume of skeletons and the innards of various creatures, his work has a kind of sweetness to it at times.

Subway Doodle

I don’t know anything about the identity of Subway Doodle since I only have an Instagram handle (@subwaydoodle).

The artist takes photos and draws over them with his iPad. The results are rather brilliant, and often hilarious.

Keep in mind, our eyes and ears can only perceive a relatively narrow range of stimuli. Can we really be certain these creatures aren’t sitting next to (or looming over) us?😉

London Kaye

London Kaye is a classically trained dancer with a passion for crochet (which she discovered at only thirteen years old). After receiving a dance scholarship to NYU, she got acquainted with the local street art scene and began doing public work. Here are two of my favorites.

The Low Bros

Posted in art, installations, street art with tags , , on March 23, 2016 by shewalkssoftly

The Low Bros, former graffiti writers Qbrk and Nerd, are Christoph and Florin Schmidt. Their visual art and murals are rather like a modern spin on the designs, colors and elements of 80’s and 90’s youth culture.

Much of their work consists of stylized animals, built with interestingly intersecting lines and geometrical shapes. Shading is often accomplished with ombre lines, which create a really cool effect.

Insta-Goodies

I’m starting a new feature here on SWS, which will help me share a greater quantity of amazing art. I was very late to the Instagram party, but I can get completely lost in the art there.

I don’t always have the time or energy to do a full feature post on artists and/or pieces I love…so I’ll be including the Instagram handle on each picture if you wish to explore further. This is also a great way to show current pieces by artists I’ve posted in the past (or preview artists I plan to post about in more depth). I hope you enjoy!
