And now for your consideration, a few great illustrations by David Roberts.
He has a collection of colorful childrens book art as well. But of course…I’m a bit partial to the darker black and white pieces.

Wunderbar!! First one my favourite.
Oh cool! I love when people fondly recognize the things I post here.
Nice, I like the exaggerated proportions.
Yes, he’s sure got style!
As you know, he’s one of my all time favorites. So many wonderful illustrations. I actually collect the books he illustrates just to have his work in my home. He is one of a couple I would be thrilled to have as my illustrator.
I have to look into more of his stuff. It seems fantastic. ๐
Love the fella with the head! By which I mean I can appreciate him from a distance..
lovely illustrations! a strong edward gorey influence, there, which is good- the world needs more creepy/cute in it = )
Yes, Gorey-esque, most certainly! This is a good thing for me though. I’d actually like to find more illustrators who have this kind of style.
Yes! Chris Priestley’s “Tales of Terror” books are very popular at our house. I was first drawn in by the illustrations only to find that the stories were actually excellent as well. As a fan of the “Scary Stories” books you would definitely love them. And most have a Twilight Zone like ending. They are beautiful books ๐
The “Tales of Terror” books look great. I really have to check them out!
I have a few of those books in my stack of ‘to read’.
