I happen to be out of town right now, but I wish I could see Thomas Woodruff’s Four Temperaments show in person. These lushly colored alchemical fusions of flora and fauna are undoubtedly a treat for the eyes up close.
Color schemes and themes reflect the four temperaments: sanguine, choleric, phlegmatic and melancholic (named after the ancient theory of bodily humors).
My favorite creatures in this beastiary are the Batterflies:

gorgeous!
Beautiful. I love the owls.
Good to see the 4 humours are still with us! I love the Batterflies with all that jewellery and head gear, wow!
Every now and then I like to quote Mr. Burns from the Simpsons: “It’s not how old you are on parchment, but how old you feel in the humours!”
Amazing, there’s just so much to look at in each picture. I would love to learn how to carve watermelons like in second picture with the flowers.
I really want to see some of these in person so I can get lost in them up close!
