This is a beautiful little stop motion film about two long distance correspondents (of sorts) who share fragments of life through messages in a bottle. Whether you choose to view the ending as nihilistic or transcendent, I dare say it’s rather poetic.

poetic for sure, and my vote is for transcendent. and that’s not just because i’m a hopeless romantic (thought i’ll be the first to admit that i am)… after all, if these energy forms can animate sand and snow, it stands to reason they can animate water. therefore, they just became translucent, to us, before consummating their relationship in the sea. logic! 🙂
I’m inclined to agree. I’m significantly more of a hopeless romantic than I was when I posted this years ago.
