Quick question…
I’m finally going through my blog email address (which gets the site comments). I try to respond to every comment or contact. For those who have left comments, were you notified about my responses by email? That’s the way it *should* work.
I’d hate to think people don’t see that I’ve acknowledged their contributions. If you take the time to write, I’m going to write back! Someone let me know it’s working properly!

I think it only notifies me, the commentor, if you, the author, comments on my comments if I check the box below that says “Notify me of follow-up comments via email.” If don’t not check that box, I do not get notified that you wrote something…which I may often do because I can be forgetful like that. Not this time, though. Checking that box.
I can’t remember if I got the last one that I’d checked the “notify me” box for. But tell ya what. I’ll check it on this. If I get a response in my email, I’ll come back here and confirm it.

So I’ve gotten the response. The problem may be the wordpress module itself. I don’t always get the email that tells me I have to click the link to confirm that I want the subscription. And THIS time it took me to a master list of subscriptions, and I had to actually click the confirm link for that specific thread (and the link didn’t show up until I hovered over it with my mouse).
So maybe the system works, but it’s so complicated that people don’t find all the steps involved. Weird that wordpress would make it this hard for people to subscribe to comments. I don’t use wordpress, but perhaps there’s another email subscription module you could use that’s just one step – them checking the box when they make their comment.
Thanks for helping me out with this. I have to investigate further and see if there’s a way to make it really easy for people.
