Michel Henricot

I can’t find as much information as I’d like on Michel Henricot, so I’ll just marvel at a few of his paintings for a while.

Voyageur IV, 1995 1a

Henricot has a talent for musculature and anatomy, veiled by translucent skin and hazy lighting. This is not the stark work of textbooks. Nor is it merely the fantastical work of a gifted surrealist.

His work dances between the technical and the mystical until vastly divergent styles can no longer be separated. Henricot’s imagination is endowed with precision of form and function.

Here is a decent size gallery. So lovely…

  1. I have just discovered the pictures of Michel Henricot’s paintings on your website. I would want to say that the website from which you’ve taken this pictures did not even ask for authorization to reproduce them. It doesn’t even mention the titles of the paintings, which is a lack of respect for the artist. The official website of Michel Henricot is : http://www.mhenricot.wordpress.com for which I am responsible. You will find there a few links for his work, such as an interview on artslivres.com, and a video presenting his painting. Michel Henricot is a french painter (I am french too, so it explains my bad english !) and is a painter from what we call “visionary art”, which is different from surrealism or symbolism, fantastic art or mystical art. The light is very important in this kind of painting and demands a lot of work, patience and time. We never see where it comes from. Michel Henricot is a painter from the silence and our interior world (sorry I cannot better explain, words are missing). His painting is mysterious, quiet and contemplative. But of course, it’s up to everyone to see want he wants in his painting. I am very happy that you like it, I will tell him and I am sure he’ll appreciate. The titles of the paintings you have reproduced are :
    Voyageur V : Traveler V (oil on canvas – 1998)
Les Ambassadeurs : Ambassadors (oil on canvas – 1979)
Trois Sphinx : Three Sphinx (oil on canvas – 2000)
Noctuelle (oil on canvas – 1993)
    Best regards
