I could look at space photography all day. I haven’t studied astronomy in quite as much depth as my other geeky fascinations, but cosmic eye candy is one of my favorite things.

It’s hard to believe that these images are even real, and these phenomena actually exist in nature at this very moment.

When I was a kid, I used to tell people, “I’m gonna be an astronomer when I grow up.” (The fact that I can’t add put an end to that plan.)
Pictures like that are why.
