The Vampire Squid is one of my favorite cephalopods (though how can one choose when they’re all so interesting?).

As if it weren’t cool enough, this creature has intense bioluminescence due to being entirely covered with photophores. It uses disorienting flashes of light to ward off predators.

These have always been one of my favorite aquatic creatures, too — I also like cuddlefish. ๐
There is a great video of them on youtube; pictures almost don’t do them justice.
These are two different species pictured- the top one is a vampire squid but the bottom one is a Glowing Sucker Octopus

This has always been one of my favorites, too.
I love it:) its just so amazingly weird!!
They’re in the category of “weird, potentially adorable, harmless.” Deep-sea critters, exist below where light reaches, and usually not more than six inches long – the name comes from their appearance, not their diet.
Also, one of their defense mechanisms is to pull all their tentacles around so the “cape” is on the outside, making them look like a big spiky pumpkin. ๐
