Oh, bless that Ikea…every now and then they come out with the most bizarre plush creatures ever mass produced. I wish I had picked up their “roadkill” cushions that surfaced a few years ago. Here’s one example:

I’m calling this next one a Bed Bug because my Entomology skills are somewhat lacking, and I can’t place exactly what it’s supposed to be (feel free to enlighten me).

Looks like you can feed it and zip its mouth shut! Isn’t that marvelous? I wonder what the target marketing demographic for these products would be. Children? Oddity bloggers?

that’s from IKEA? i WANT!
I’ve seen those at Ikea – I thought it was a big fat tick from a very large dog. Quite a bizarre looking little thing. And just to feel how squishy it is, gives me the creepy shivers.
imo it looks like a woodlouse, or at least I always thought it is one *woodlouse lover since childhood* ^^
I wanted one like that pretty much, and my mother kept telling me first that it is ugly, than that she will buy me one, and one day we found it being out of stock and not available anymore. I was pretty angry (okay, could have bought it myself, but I didn’t even try, since her promising to buy one for me), so now I plan to find one online.
(btw, if someone actually owns one like that, could he/she please post its name written on the tag, if it still has it? that would make searching much easier. I tried the local IKEAs but they say they don’t have its data anymore…)
Loona, there is still hope:
I asked Customer Service about this at my IKEA store in Hungary, because my daughter is in the exact same situation than you are. They told me at customer service, that this is a seasonal product, and there is chance that it will come back around the same period of the year.
Remember, you can see plush bats and rats at IKEA around Halloweeen, can’t remember if this bug was also part of the Halloween pack. So “visit your nearest IKEA store” around Halloween time this year.
And I agree with you, it IS a woodlouse (and yes, I studied entomology 2 semesters…)
Oh, and the guy’s name is KLAPPAR SKALLBAGGE – seen quite a few on eBay

I have one of these!! It’s a woodlouse, originally sold as a pyjama case, so strange but so wonderful!!
