How about some good old fashioned, fun lowbrow today?

Singapore based artist Sidd Wills serves up a hearty helping of bones, guts, ooze and rot.

80’s Christmas Horror Movies

Posted in 80's, film, horror, monsters, TV, undead with tags , , , , , , on December 8, 2015 by shewalkssoftly

Fellow horror fans…I confess I felt remiss in my duties when I discovered there were a number of 80’s Christmas Horror Movies I haven’t seen. A kind reader sent me this list.

Luckily, 80’s Horror has compiled a nice list of every Christmas horror movie made in the decade. How many have you seen?

They also note two awesome TV episodes (which were staples of my childhood): Tales from the Darkside- Seasons of Belief

And Tales from the Crypt- And All Through the House

Check out 80’s Christmas Horror Movies.

Otto Lehtonen

Since we’re now getting inundated with holiday cheer at every turn, I thought I’d provide some balance via Otto Lehtonen (aka Eemeling).

Love his version of The Babadook:

You will find many tortured, twisted, grinning and otherwise menacing figures in his portfolio.

Fans of horror art will undoubtedly enjoy these undead creations.

Did anyone have these toys?

Inbread people…

This is an excellent shop concept because it enables you to shoot the people who disturb your reading without making extra store stops.

“BURST WITH THE TERROR OF A BREAKUP!” You better believe I’ll be turning this into a sympathy greeting card if my friends ever need it…but I hope they don’t.

Ah, I knew it. See you in hell.

This makes me cry like the ASPCA commercials. I want to rescue every one.

Pretty much the greatest photo of all time:

Love this rare art nouveau piece, complete with giant fish.

A bookstore sign in the Netherlands. Amazing…

Time to bundle up for winter! I’m always freezing. I don’t know how I’ve lived without a knit Facehugger in the winter.

I’m never going to be part of Tinder culture…but this would be useful in real life if it were possible.

Gorgeous painting by Megan Buccere.

Great advice!

Jacqueline Gallagher skillfully mixes vivid beauty with a sense of revulsion in her lovely ladies (and animals) of the undead persuasion.

She states:
I’m painter of Zombies and the Disturbed. Or Disturbed Zombie Painter…I forget which. These figures are contractions, beautiful and grotesque at the same time.

They float through their worlds driven by craving, vanity, and addiction, caught in moments of comedic indulgence. They put themselves on display for the world as their bodies and minds slowly decay. This is how I see myself and most everyone around me. We are the Dead Living, but we sure do look good.

The paintings above are done in oil, but here’s a random bonus selection from the pencil/gauche section! Isn’t he great?

Halloween Countdown: Vincent the Vegetable Vampire

Posted in absurd, halloween, music, music video, retro, undead with tags , , , , , , , on October 26, 2015 by shewalkssoftly

I urge you to drop everything and watch the inimitable Morgan Freeman in the role of a vegetarian vampire (he starred in The Electric Company 45 years ago). Within 10 seconds, you’ll realize the combination deadpan delivery and exaggerated vaudevillian charm is nearly impossible to describe…but utterly fantastic.

I’ve actually never seen this show. Has anyone watched it?

Halloween Countdown: Tupa’s Treasures

Artist Christopher Tupa is posting a new piece of full color Halloween art every day for the entire month of October.

Some of them are zombified versions of his friends…which I love.

See the rest at Tupa’s Treasures.
