Aunt Clara’s Pink Bunny Pajamas

Allow me a seasonal time warp for a moment. I’m sure it won’t be long until we start seeing Christmas artifacts appear on store shelves anyway. I recently came across a company that manufactures Pink Bunny Pajamas (just the way Aunt Clara made ’em!):

The site boasts that you can now “Give the gift of humiliation!”

The suit is available in plus sizes as well (though somehow I doubt the bucket of chicken is included).

And you can purchase a “Christmas Combo” which includes a Red Rider BB Gun.

Starting at about $110, I’m afraid I won’t be purchasing this tribute to my favorite holiday film of all time. But it’s definitely a product that needed to made.

Art for God

Okay…this post is going to make me walk a very uncomfortable line. The easy way out is to be snarky. But there is something so undeniably sincere about these images that I’m going to let them speak for themselves.

Art for God has a collection of paintings depicting Jesus in “heroic” circumstances, along with inspirational descriptions.

Naked Mole Rat Cake

This gets the award for least appealing cake of the week:

A naked mole rat, arguably one of nature’s most hideous creatures (even by my standards, and I’m quick to adore wildlife). Something about the shaded folds of tan icing turns my stomach.

I always thought I’d happily eat any kind of cake, even in the shape of a hairless rodent…but now I’m not so sure.

Fake Pharmaceuticals

Mind Hacks just had a great little roundup of fake pharmaceutical products; the inevitable satirical backlash of a medical industry like ours.

Despondex is a drug for the chronically chipper. The video is fantastic:

Most of us know someone who could use a dose of Havidol.

Panexa mocks the proliferation of drugs (and side effects), readily dispensed.

And one of the first ones I remember seeing years ago:

And although it was not in the article, one of my all time favorite medical mockeries remains Steve Martin’s “Side Effects,” published in the New Yorker in 1998 (a must-read if you haven’t seen it)

The Safety of Play D’Oh

I can only imagine how uptight some US citizens would get if they saw this Singapore ad campaign for Play D’Oh.

The ads aim to show the incredible creative versatility of the substance while highlighting its safety.

Personally, I love these brightly colored D’Oh hazards (and am inspired to make them myself).

But I have a feeling many parents would severely object to this imagery (not to mention the questionable safety of creations with such tiny pieces and sharp edges…Pay D’Oh is tough when it dries!).

Ah, mid 20th century popularity tips. I love looking at old (and even current) advice trends. This piece offers some lofty promises.

Sure, we can scoff at antiquated notions of shut up, look pretty and praise every word your man says with wide-eyed wonder.

But are the current tips in Cosmo really so much better? (Actual Cosmo quote: “We noticed in December…how baseball player Alex Rodriguez shamelessly followed Madonna around like a little poodle…Clearly, as Madonna proves, being ballsy and comfortable with oneself is a big turn-on.”)

This little blogger thinks there must be a more appropriate middle ground between doormat and ball-breaker. I should keep a Cosmo or two (despite the fact that I don’t read them…I can find trite advice and compare myself unfavorably to other women at home for free). They are bound to be the collectible kitsch of the future.

You know those sweatpants with mildly suggestive phrases written across the butt?

(Sorry ladies, the basic principles of human brain function make people stare…not the inherent quality of your posterior).

Someone has trumped all previous attempts to draw attention to this region of the body via clothing design.

I have no idea where this video comes from or when it was made, but it’s far too absurd to pass up. Really, you must watch.
