I just went through Mark James Porter’s entire blog to check out all of his sculptures (plus art and accompanying sketches).
I love his take on popular characters, such as the classic Alice in Wonderland favorites.
Look inside Humpty’s head. There’s knowledge in there!

This great article features an 1840’s miniature butcher shop, complete with a series of strung-up meats.
A few different theories surround this incredible creation. Some believe it was intended for presumably less squeamish children of the Victorian era, while others call attention to the popular trend of miniatures for adults at the time. Either way, it’s an intriguing artifact.
This 1900 model, on the other hand, was made by esteemed German toymaker Christian Hacker (definitely intended for children):

I’m the kind of girl who stumbles upon pictures of The Barbie Dream Hearse by accident amidst my regular web perusals.
I forget what search made this come up, but I’m glad it did. From the website:
The Barbie Dream Hearse is a fun alternative to your regular means of transportation. What began as a simple play on words turned into a full-fledged business concept, serving Seattle area ladies (and self-confident gentlemen!) with a unique, avant-garde way to spend the night on the town.
I don’t have any immediate plans to be in the Seattle area (though I’d like to visit), but this shirt is going my wish list.
Has anyone ridden in the Barbie Dream Hearse? If so, I’d love to hear about it.

What a lovely little song and video…if you’re into this sort of thing, like I am.

Vanessie Art Dolls are the work of the talented Esther Verschoor.
The dolls and outfits are hand crafted from a wide variety of materials. And all real skulls are from animals who have died of natural causes (never killed for food, fur or human use).
As if the costumes weren’t brilliantly detailed enough, many of the dolls are actually sporting lacy underwear and stockings beneath!
Some figures are placed within sculptures or scenes…

Fans of interesting taxidermy and Gothic/Victorian fashion will love these pieces.
There are so many lovely things to look at in the Vanessie galleries. Have a look!

Well, Spring is upon us here in the US. Though if Spring came to my door looking like this, you can bet I wouldn’t let it in.

Here’s a motivational poster for you fine folks:

What are the chances I could still get this T-shirt if I fill out the order form?

I believe I got this from A Wren’s Life’s Pinterest. Why aren’t there more images of people wrestling Death on medical packaging these days?

I’ve never seen a raven-haired man with a stark white beard, but now I know there’s a solution of such a man wishes to coordinate his whiskers.

One thing any man of mine will not have to worry about (if he doesn’t getting me going about art or science):

Quite possibly the best tombstone epitaph I’ve ever seen:

What happens when acorns are laced with cocaine…

No idea what these are (maybe one of you will know), but I think I like them.

This gets major points for being two things: 1) zombie nesting dolls 2) A CAKE.

And speaking of food, I shouldn’t have seen these…because now I will undoubtedly surprise unsuspecting guests with them one day (I’d carry them out facing backwards so the faces are extra shocking).

Though I don’t use much glitter in my projects these days, I very much relate to this (from Para Abnormal):

I’ve been quite under the weather lately, and this piece fairly accurately describes how I feel.

My very favorite closet light:

And lastly…we knew someone would jump on the chance to do this.

Does anyone have information about this company or product? All I know is, this commercial is AMAZING.
Really…take 30 seconds of your life to watch this.

Amazing craft idea for the zombie lover in your life!

Imaginary boyfriends are the best.

This is how to get ALL the ladies!

Who knew cupid’s name was…DAN?

On a related note, the Newton Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Brooklyn is offering a morning tour of its sludge processing facility (I’m not kidding!)
If I ever get married, I would shower my husband with beautiful sentiments like this:

You’ll rarely hear me say this, but…forget the chocolate…I want the box!

I forgot to put this fellow, all spiffy in his Valentine suit, in my Bat Valentine post:

Many folks who frequent this blog would probably appreciate the Tim Burton Valentine Card Set.

Boo Boo the Valentine Ghost just wants someone to love him.

And a couple of other sculpted creatures I found, without artist credit.
