I just took another look at Luis Toledo’s collages.
They contain many of the elements to which I’m usually drawn. Anatomy, vintage design, concepts of life, death, creatures, dreams and all things in between.

Anyone know the artist for this?

I do not know this woman, but her batty glasses indicate she’s probably pretty great.

A child destined for greatness.

Now let’s get serious and talk about death. Great book title:

I would absolutely read this one.

Does anyone have this? I couldn’t find it anywhere, but I’m curious and intrigued.

The first? Great detective work, Dr. Donohue.

I never knew a mortuary could be so exciting.

“Man describes his sensations while slowly roasting to death”

Rather beautiful antique illustration:

Indication of slightly skewed priorities (read the fine print…she’s upset about her hair).

It may feel like slight indigestion at first, but…

Anyone know where this anthropomorphic poison comes from?

Come in, kiddies. A meaty, cheesy death surely does not await you in the hungry jaws of Mayor McCheese.

I don’t think this ended well.

The end.
I was just admiring a few of Robert Mickelsen’s glass sculptures.
I believe this one is my favorite. Such an elegant, delicate, phonograph…

I like this for some reason. Not sure why it appeals to me.

I’ve been digging some of Davif Lozeau’s skeleton art lately (pun intended?).
Perhaps I’m just a sucker for skeleton art, but I think these characters are pretty fun.
From the website: David Lozeau has a quirky, character-driven painting style that blends Day of the Dead iconography, 1950s cartoon cell animation, traditional tattoo imagery, and pure Southern California Lowbrow, revealing his unique perspective on life, death, and all the gory stuff in between.

I love Jason Mowry’s Human Anatomie series:
Such an interesting “song” stuck in the throat…
This filigree skull, entitled Crania Anatomica, by Joshua Harker has completely captured my heart.

They are available in different sizes and materials in his online store. I wish I could treat myself to the tiny one at the moment. On the wish list it goes!

Every now and then I get wrapped up in adorable things (hence my recent addition of the YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE CUTE tag). Martin Bregman has a way with sweet, simple design.
If I ever get a mannequin for clothing design, I do believe I will paint some sort of anatomical design on it. here’s an interesting twist on the idea:

Muddyskull has the largest selection of handmade skull cake toppers I’ve ever seen.
Perhaps some people reading this blog have had (or would consider having) spooky wedding accessories. There are many to choose from here!
Muddyskull also makes pendants, earrings and cake toppers coupled with ring bearer plates (pictured below). You can tell I’ve never had to plan a wedding because I didn’t even know what a ring bearer plate was!

Sandi Calistro paints lovely girls…and even better, girls with skulls and skeletons.
I rather like the dresses these ladies wear.
