The Internet is flooded with Easter treats these days, and I hadn’t planned to post much to spare you the redundancy. Then again, I’ve collected awful Easter bunny photos for the past two years so I might as well put them to good use, right?
Definitely start with last year’s Evil Bunny megapost if you haven’t seen it. Some of those bunnies are not to be missed! And now for an encore…

I’ve seen lots of “food sculpture” before, but what I love most about this Mushroom Skull is the use of the stem to create a spinal cord of sorts. Here’s an original shot when it was first made:
I think it looks even better since some time has passed, rather like a prop for a stop-motion film:

I’ve already seen a nice array of online April Fools Day pranks today, but one of my all time favorites has to be the Spaghetti Tree Hoax of 1957.
The BBC current affairs program Panorama told a tale of a family in southern Switzerland harvesting spaghetti from the fictitious spaghetti tree, broadcast at a time when this Italian dish was not widely eaten in the UK and some Britons were unaware spaghetti is a pasta made from wheat flour and water. Hundreds of viewers phoned into the BBC, either to say the story was not true, or wondering about it, with some even asking how to grow their own spaghetti trees.

My birthday cake was such a powerful presence that she became like a member of the family during the month of March. I feel it is only right to memorialize her with a formal obituary.
Deana, known to friends and loved ones as “MMMM…good,” died of consumption at 17 days old in Huntington, NY.
Deana was born in Albany, NY at X’s to O’s Vegan Bakery (expertly “Cake Wrecked” and named after an intentional misspelling of her recipient’s name). She spent her early life under the care of B.H. before moving to Long Island at the age of one day. A worldly cake, parts of Deana traveled to PA, through NJ and back to NY.
She was known for her chocolately, peanut-buttery goodness, rich moist texture, sublime frosting, and for weighing nearly half as much as Dana herself. Deana had the ability to elicit copious praise and satisfied moans from all who crossed her path. Her hobbies included making people smile, filling stomachs and ruining diets.
She was a resilient treat who thrived in trains, refrigerators, counter tops, car seats and freezers with perfect elegance and not a bit of flavor lost. She also enjoyed a brief modeling stint on the X’s to O’s facebook page. Deana is survived by her loving family: D.A, B.H. and L.P.
Memorial service to take place 3/31/10…in the dishwasher.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please send donations from X’s to O’s.

The inimitable John K. just had a really neat blog post, featuring some retro puppets. Gotta love the 3-D modeled heads atop (sometimes badly) drawn cloth rags.
I’m envisioning a factory that only makes the cheap cloth bottoms…the puppet bottom factory.
Rocky seems to have let himself go a bit…
