  • Joshua Harker: Crania Anatomica

    May 23rd, 2012

This filigree skull, entitled Crania Anatomica, by Joshua Harker has completely captured my heart.

To see a full view of every angle, click on this nine second video:

They are available in different sizes and materials in his online store. I wish I could treat myself to the tiny one at the moment. On the wish list it goes!

  • Matthew Sharack

    May 22nd, 2012

Matthew Sharack makes such stunning architectural ilustrations that I actually went through his entire blog to see all of them.

Narrow buildings packed with windows…ever so slightly askew…towers with delicately crooked spires abound…

His monsters and mad men are wonderful as well.

His blog is filled with fantastic sketches and finished work, so take a look.

  • Martin Bregman

    May 21st, 2012

Every now and then I get wrapped up in adorable things (hence my recent addition of the YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE CUTE tag). Martin Bregman has a way with sweet, simple design.

    A Rumble in the Tummy:

    Look at the happy fellows…

If I ever get a mannequin for clothing design, I do believe I will paint some sort of anatomical design on it. here’s an interesting twist on the idea:

    PORKTERGEIST!

  • The Mutees

    May 20th, 2012

Have I mentioned that I love interesting dolls and puppets? I like to see the way people give form to the creatures in their heads. I got an email from the creator of The Mutees; handmade balsa wood jointed puppets.

Look at “Rudy the Bull” and the fire in his belly!

    Such unique little characters…almost cute…almost disconcerting…

  • Bride of Frankenstein

    May 19th, 2012

And Everything Else Too posted this great Bride of Frankenstein paper doll set, made in 1964.

See many more lovely outfits here.

  • MST3K Cafe Press Roundup

    May 18th, 2012

I am a card-carrying Mystery Science Theater 3000 geek (I must be, to have started a club). Here are a few of my favorite MST3K creations on Cafe Press.

    For the car:

    When you’re on the go…

I love how they got the font correct:

And there were a number of items dedicated to one of my all time favorite characters: ZAP ROWSDOWER

And for the no-nonsense Rowsdower fans, we have the shirt, the sticker and the magnet.

My apologies to those who are unfamiliar with the show. I promise my next post will have more mass appeal (well, for my regular readers anyway).

  • Justin Mezzell

    May 17th, 2012

Justin Mezzell has a nice little series of retro style pieces.

    Oh, how I love this:

  • Where Will I Go When I Die?

    May 16th, 2012

This video…as far as I can tell…is entirely sincere (despite its suggestions to dress up a dead body, Psycho-style, and keep it in the house). I think any further commentary would ruin it, so just sit back and enjoy. It’s definitely worth two minutes of your time.

  • Resintopia: Plastic Model Kit & Statue Expo

    May 15th, 2012

My friend The Headless Hearseman, pioneer of monster model kit customs, is putting together an amazing event next month. Resintopia gathers monstrously talented (get it? *nudge nudge*) sculptors and producers from all over the country.

There will be kit displays, contests, trophies, prizes, Q & A sessions, demos…all kinds of fun stuff.

The event takes place June 23rd and 24th, 20 minutes from NYC at the Crowne Plaza, Fairfield, NJ, so mark your calendars East coast monster lovers!

You will see some amazing craftsmanship here, folks. I highly recommend attending if you can make it.

Get all the details here, and take a look at The Headless Hearseman’s work.

  • Geek OUTlet

    May 14th, 2012

I know these awesome pendants by Geek OUTlet are a Resident Evil reference, but I must admit I just adore the concept of wearing encapsulated DNA (which is what I thought this was at first glance).

    Glow in the dark!

    And in daylight…

These are definitely going on the wish list.

There are other geeky goodies in this store as well.

    See more here.
