  • Czech Marionettes

    July 11th, 2012

I re-browsed Czech Marionettes recently and remembered what fun things there are to be found on the site.

Look at the old witch’s little companion up there!

    Cheerful skeleton…

    Scientist!

    Decay…

Many fun puppets to browse here.

  • Silent Film Etiquette

    July 10th, 2012

Old Hollywood has a wonderful collection of public service images, projected to instruct proper film etiquette in the 1910’s.

This next one inspires questions in my mind. What…else…could…hmmmm?

  • Paul Lung

    July 9th, 2012

You might look at this and say “Hey Dana…why are you posting a photo of a cute cat? This blog is a place for spooky, odd, artsy things!”

Well, this is not a cat photo. It’s one of Paul Lung’s insanely realistic pencil drawings!

There are some other still life drawings in his portfolio as well…

But let’s not forget that the Internet was invented to show off cats.

  • Desktop Goodies 7/8

    July 8th, 2012

I want to go here. So badly.

Anyone know the artist for this?

I do not know this woman, but her batty glasses indicate she’s probably pretty great.

    This woman, too…

    A child destined for greatness.

    I really want this game!

    Bats and cats…oh my.

Now let’s get serious and talk about death. Great book title:

    And another:

I would absolutely read this one.

    Another incredible title.

Does anyone have this? I couldn’t find it anywhere, but I’m curious and intrigued.

The first? Great detective work, Dr. Donohue.

I never knew a mortuary could be so exciting.

“Man describes his sensations while slowly roasting to death”

    Rather beautiful antique illustration:

Indication of slightly skewed priorities (read the fine print…she’s upset about her hair).

It may feel like slight indigestion at first, but…

Anyone know where this anthropomorphic poison comes from?

    Brilliant!

    Serenade…

    Lovely death and (a) maiden.

Come in, kiddies. A meaty, cheesy death surely does not await you in the hungry jaws of Mayor McCheese.

    Heaven?

    Hell?

    For the ladies…

I don’t think this ended well.

    The end.

  • Pizza Cones

    July 7th, 2012

I’ve had a mild obsession with “pizza cones” since I saw a picture of one a year or two ago. My favorite food in a novel new shape…how could I not be intrigued?

Now there’s a kit to facilitate the pizza cone making process. Here’s the demo:

I know it’s an impractical purchase…but I’m tempted. I imagine there are plenty of creative recipes one could make with this.

Has anyone had or made a pizza cone?

  • Micro-Blog Week

    July 4th, 2012

I have some things to do this week that will prevent spending time on this blog (oh, LIFE!). However, since there are always hundreds of things lurking on my desktop at any given time, I’ve decided to do a little “micro-blogging” instead of my usual posting style.

Expect the usual daily fare, in bite sized pieces (I won’t call them “fun sized” because fun sized candy would actually be more fun if it were bigger…we all know it).

More detailed posts will return ASAP.

  • Big Brother Little Brother Shirts

    July 3rd, 2012

I just want to share two shirts I enjoy from the delightfully geeky Big Brother Little Brother Shirts

I’m always partial to atomic particles.

And even though I’m arguably a little old for this shirt…I’d still rock it.

    See more creations here.
