Posted by proxy from Dana’s “stuff to blog” queue while she is on medical hiatus. She reads and appreciates all comments…and apologizes for not being able to respond at the moment.

Artist Kevin Champeny is, in his own words “a New York based artist creating mosaic works blurring the line between photo, painting, and sculpture by creating a conversation between the hand sculpted and cast pixels and the image they come together to form.”  The works below are comprised of thousands of coloured cast pieces which are used to make the larger image.

“Killing Field” is composed of resin cast animals in a still life of shotgun shells.

“What Remains” is made up of cast hand sculpted flowers:

“GummiLove” is composed of 55 lbs of cast resin Gummi Bears:

CG illustrator Macoto Murayama renders flowers by highlighting their geometric and mechanical structure. The results are quite stunning.

Grab your scuba gear for this one. Andreas Frank has placed characters from a bygone era underwater on modern sunken ships. Fancy that!

Ever wonder if the countless landscapes and poorly painted cast-off paintings that seem to  find their way to thrift shops might actually have a chance at redemption and life? Two such artists,  Chris McMahon and Thryza Segal, have done just that.

Artist Emil “Rocky” Fiore’s art is to set spider webs in a way to preserve them.

These are quite beautiful. In high school, I, your humble proxy poster, used to do this with white paint and transfer the webs onto my shoes and leather jacket. It never dawned on me to do this as Emil has. Check out more at his website:
