I can’t spend an extra penny right now, but I wish I could order one of these fantastic double helix necklaces from Morphologica.
Each piece starts as a sketch on paper, gets digitally modeled and laser cut.

Ork Posters, why must you taunt me with your designs? I’ve already posted about the company, and now…
I absolutely love the new brain map, yet still can’t get myself to throw down $18 plus shipping for a small print.
I always prefer the hidden oddities of any given region to the highly manufactured tourist attractions. Since I’m often on the West coast, I have to get my hands on a copy of L.A. Bizarro

The book is an updated release of an older version, packed with new strange delights: food, museums, sideshows, dives, cemeteries and the like. I have a feeling there’s much in store for me on my next LA visit.

Between the recent debut of Atlas Obscura and The Geek Atlas, I’m itching to make some vacation plans.
Atlas Obscura is one of those sites I feel was designed specifically for people like me. I’ve already posted about a number of the attractions listed, and I look forward to the additions of fellow explorers.

Atlas Obscura is a collaborative project with the goal of cataloging all of the singular, eccentric, bizarre, fantastical, and strange out-of-the-way places that get left out of traditional travel guidebooks and are ignored by the average tourist. If you’re looking for miniature cities, glass flowers, books bound in human skin, gigantic flaming holes in the ground, phallological museums, bone churches, balancing pagodas, or homes built entirely out of paper, the Atlas Obscura is where you’ll find them.
I also stumbled upon The Geek Atlas, which I must get my hands on. Nearly 550 pages of locations where science and technology made history (or are currently making it).

This book includes a general introduction to each destination’s significance, a related technical subject covered in more detail, and practical visiting information. Perfect!
I’ve already posted about Chocolate Meditation. Now I’ve come across something even more decadent and breathtaking: Lulu’s Raw Chocolate Alchemy.

Lulu’s Raw Chocolate Alchemy was created from passion for exquisite chocolate, a desire to eat pure, whole foods and a deep belief in botanical alchemy. We are adding new dimensions to the way people experience chocolate.

I was nearly hyperventilating when I went through the website. I must take part in this ravishing mind-body-soul journey!
Each chocolate (which I believe takes the form of a smooth, thick spread) is infused with essential oils and flavors; enjoying it is a multifaceted experience. The aromatic elements can be calming, balancing, grounding, healing…and of course, aphrodisiac.

Remember the classic Twilight Zone episode Nick of Time, in which William Shatner becomes obsessed with a table top penny fortune teller called the Mystic Seer?
Well, now there is a prototype for a Mystic Seer bobble head!

It looks like they are making it in black and white. There’s something intriguing about a single object creating a observational time warp.
It seems there used to be a Mystic Seer Kit:

The finished product:

There is also an Invader prototype:

You’ll remember this fellow as the one who battled the giant woman in The Invaders.

These are actually reasonably priced enough for me to get (only $13). Going on the wish list…
Since I can’t have the DNA patterned carpeting that recently impressed me at the NY Academy of Sciences, I’ll simply lust after one of these posters.

One irritating thing about ravenously devouring art while never having been formally schooled in the subject is that I’m not aware of the proper terminology for various styles. I’m sure this style has a name. I don’t know it.

I hope they make a brain poster next!

The Sound Advice Project is to designed to help parents talk to their children about drugs. They take a recorded statement and reproduce the exact form the of the sound waves in a bracelet design.

Personally, I think this would make a phenomenal gift for a good friend, or even better…a token of geek romance. What could be more romantic than wearing a rendition of the wavelength, frequency and amplitude of your sweetheart’s voice?
Pardon me while I stare into space and daydream about longitudinal waves…
I can think of a few vinyl lovers who would appreciate this as much as I do. Michael Rogers Press makes these fantastic LP notebooks with cut records albums, hard bound with black cloth.
