Here is one DIY furniture piece I never would have envisioned: a magazine coffee table.
Designer Vered Zaykovsky constructed this table out of glass and six identical magazine copies.
Believe it or not, there is no cutting or gluing involved…only the careful and precise interweaving of the paper.
Wim Delvoye’s “Marble Floor” series is not actually edible despite its meaty appearance.
I’d almost be afraid to walk on it, as if my shoes would slip on grease and tear into the delicate slices that make up the design.
I commend him on the intricate, painstaking work that went into tiling these pieces.
Suddenly I find myself craving all sorts of salted, cured meats.

Since I can’t have the DNA patterned carpeting that recently impressed me at the NY Academy of Sciences, I’ll simply lust after one of these posters.
One irritating thing about ravenously devouring art while never having been formally schooled in the subject is that I’m not aware of the proper terminology for various styles. I’m sure this style has a name. I don’t know it.
I hope they make a brain poster next!

I really love something about this unlikely choice for a sofa design, by Gaetano Pesce.
This may be the closest a delicate lady like me ever gets to scaling high mountains. Look at that rocky terrain, those dangerous peaks and valleys…and perfect placement of waterfalls.
It’s definitely worth looking through the rest of Gaetano Pesce’s site. Surreal and bizarre creations abound.
I wish I saw these in time for my salt and pepper shaker post the other day. These Victorian style TV-headed salt and pepper shakers might be my very favorite!
Positively postmodern, eh? I’m now inspired to run to the thrift store and construct a bunch of salt and pepper shakers from mismatched found objects.

1 Light Art Lamps are a collection of unique lamps made from everyday objects. Designer Howard Dernberger has been creating lamps since he was a child, and he incorporates rare vintage objects for a blend of form and function.

I’m often struck with the desire to create odd lighting pieces from found objects, and it’s lovely to see the creativity and construction in these pieces.
