Designed to promote their Kofli collection (which features coffee on the inside), these brilliant ads from Italian chocolate company Zaini feature a series of caffeinated animals.
I think I’d have a wonderful time modifying standard chocolates to look more like these.

If you haven’t made a habit of browsing vintage holiday ads the way I have, you might be surprised at the proliferation of firearms.

Ah, how the times change.
Every now and then a major company launches an ad campaign that appeals to me for reasons other than the advertisers intended. Take Dr Pepper’s “I Exist” support group series, featuring Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and other mythical icons.
The premise is that diet Dr Pepper is “unbelievably” good.
The following photo is one of my favorite ads of the year:
If I walked past a room with this sign outside, I wouldn’t even BLINK before walking in. Genius.
Perhaps there are times when all of us wish for an “I Exist” support group. I feel like starting one for people to attend on frustrating, lonely days.

I can only imagine how uptight some US citizens would get if they saw this Singapore ad campaign for Play D’Oh.
The ads aim to show the incredible creative versatility of the substance while highlighting its safety.
Personally, I love these brightly colored D’Oh hazards (and am inspired to make them myself).
But I have a feeling many parents would severely object to this imagery (not to mention the questionable safety of creations with such tiny pieces and sharp edges…Pay D’Oh is tough when it dries!).
What do you think of these ads?
Conceptually, I think this ad campaign is brilliant. Remember how a simple block, ball, stick or cloud took shape when your childhood imagination was unleashed upon it?
I hope as toys and entertainment grow more elaborate through the years, children never lose the magical ability to bring colors and objects to life.
(However, the first one is clearly a snake, rising up and poised to strike. And the second is a snail in the grass. I agree with the boat…and the last one is a flying superhero.)
This vintage ad is sure to spark at least mild confusion, at least for people of my generation. I admit to having no clue what the “air-breathing, flesh-soft” substance actually is.

Hats off to global electric company Blusens for using this brilliant literalism in an ad:
Trader Joe’s has uploaded the only grocery flyer I’ve ever seen that features a bespectacled cephalopod on the cover, and contains pages that evoke turn of the century print materials.
If you think about it, and octopus could actually be quite handy in the kitchen.

New Zealand’s Sky TV is running a fantastic promotional campaign for the airing of AvP, featuring the two beloved staples of sci-fi in some seriously non-threatening combat.
I still haven’t discarded my wish to hang out with Predator. I’m hardly worth the thrill of the hunt…I think we’d get along.
