This reminds me of the Xanth novels where every human born in Xanth has a magical power, no matter how stupid. Those without by the time they come of age are exiled to Mundania. Some of the ridiculous powers? The ability to change at will the color of one’s pee to any color in the rainbow. The ability to pass gas that smelled like flowers. (Actually, this power would come in handy in relationships.)
How have I never heard of those novels? 🙂
I always wanted the superpower to be able to separate any handle from any coffe mug at any time I chose.

That is a brilliant superpower…just subtle enough to be absolute genius. Like cursing someone to make their socks perpetually slip down in their shoes.
This reminds me of the UK show “The Misfits”.
