I was inspired to seek out “fanged fish” when I saw the Dracula minnow featured in the Top Ten New Species of 2009:
A search revealed that there are indeed other kinds of fanged fish as well (most notably the African Tiger Fish)…

These are some of the most amazing photo-realistic decorations I’ve ever seen. The illusion is remarkably successful.
Yes, they are $200 per sticker. This is definitely a decorative investment.
This photo shoot is from a couple of years ago, but I just came across it. Crazy Cat Lady goes glam!
The model (Sri Tollerod) in alarmingly thin, even for a model, but it’s a unique shoot.

It’s been ages since I’ve played a board game of any kind, but I can’t help drooling over this collection of classic monster games.

Zdzislaw Beksinski is an old favorite of mine and I was just browsing a folder I kept of his surreal, nightmarish paintings.
This introverted artist had no formal training, and managed to paint apocalyptic scenes that rival today’s digital video game art.
Unlike some of the surrealist art I post, I have NO desire to live in his imagination or fictional worlds.
I’ve always been touched by this painting in an uneasy way…

I can relate to some aspects of this man’s personality (particularly his desire to avoid the spotlight in person):
Although Beksiński’s art was often grim, he himself was known to be a pleasant person who took enjoyment from conversation and had a keen sense of humor. He was exceptionally modest and somewhat shy, avoiding public events such as the openings of his own exhibitions.

Sometimes I’m a sucker for cuteness…especially with a dash of sinister thrown in for good measure.
Anita Mejia is a master of wide-eyed (often pupil-less) little creations.

Yes, yes…YES! I want to bake red velvet cake in these and eat right from the skull!
The brain icing is a nice touch.
I hope people don’t mind these desktop image posts. They are lots of fun for me, and allow me to post things that don’t necessarily warrant their own entry.
Okay, it’s a fake…but it’s a great fake.

I don’t have any original info about this, but I’m guessing it involves sarcasm or hard drugs.

From Eric Joyner’s new show at Corey Helford, “Donut Logic” (I’m sold from the title alone):

I wish I had this much mobility in MY spacesuit.

I thought I posted some strange ice cream flavors last year, but I can’t seem to find any evidence of it. This post has a great roundup of some unconventional flavors.
Among them…
Pit Viper (said to be an aphrodisiac)

There’s also a trend of spicy cream, it seems.
