I dedicate this video to my amazing dad, special effects editor extraordinaire! It’s kind of neat to see a collage of these memorable movie moments, remembering that each one, in its own time, was a marvel of human ingenuity.

Must give credit to two of my personal heroes first though: At 00:00:19 – Kentucky thoroughbred Sallie Gardner, stop-motion photographed by Eadweard Muybridge. Before he photographed her, everyone thought horses at a gallop lifted all four legs off the ground at the same time (as in George Stubbs’ paintings). Between them they revolutionised our understanding of animal motion. Pretty neat, eh? -Nx

The apple don’t fall from the tree. 😉 This was a pure delight to watch, visual effects have many such awesome strides, and I think we should all be grateful for those push their talent and make our movies spectacular as we stuff popcorn into our face holes. Sometimes it’s a treat to watch the old effects, something elementarily comforting about it and many ways as satisfying as the newest blockbuster movie.
