Dang it. These Celestial Buddies are just so cute.
They range from $19-30 (a little pricey if you ask me), but oh…the cuteness…

You know an artist/crafter has caught your attention when you actually go through 60 pages of flickr to see examples of work. The unbearable cuteness of Lubu’s creations just sucked me in.
I was reminded that I had Lubu bookmarked after using a bot creation in my Vintage Strongman post.
Geeky bots (with cats…bonus!)…

There are bots for absolutely everyone, whether you love pop culture, geek culture, or anything in between.
Hine Mizushima is responsible for my favorite unique holiday wreath this year:
Her collection of plush work is impressive, to say the least.
And the 2D work is adorable as well:

Tons more on her Flickr site and website.
I’m a gal who LOVES her share of heads on the wall…providing they are fake, of course.
I just discovered Cherrybox’s etsy site, with many faux taxidermy delights to choose from.
This is the kind of stylized animal stuffing I can get into! Deadly cute.
Aren’t the little accents and details wonderful?
See more here.
Pink Tentacle just posted a nice little collection of logos from the Japanese Figure Trademark database. A few of my favorites…
Show your favorite movies on your dog’s face.

Or for those who would prefer a larger animal…

Lastly…YOU CAN’T HANDLE THE CUTE! (That needs to be a new tag, I think)

My wonderful, talented friend Steph responded with a link to my Jimmy Swinnerton post, informing me of a site dedicated entirely to flying squirrel art.
It made my day that this site exists (I suppose my day can get made quiet easily). As Steph put it, “We only have a limited amount of time in this world, and some people dedicate it to flying squirrels.”
The cuteness…oh dear…the cuteness! I can just hear him going “weeeeeeeeeee!”

The site contains links to original art, scientific and anatomy drawings and paintings of flying squirrels from North America from colonial times through 2002. Some of them are even from the webmaster’s personal collection (how great is that? A flying squirrel collection!).
Some are rather…strange…like this “found object” piece:

Clearly, the following narrative illustration ends with the squirrel flying blissfully to safety and living happily ever after. Please don’t argue with me on this.

I’m a big fan of Christopher Uminga’s adorable art. Let’s start with this series of creatures on sepia toned paper…
And there are countless monstrously sweet pieces in the rest of his portfolio.

Look at this romantic little robot…

I could look at his galleries all day! Must…stop…
See more on the artist’s site and Deviant Art gallery.
This coincidence is too perfect to ignore. Cake Wrecks decides to post a series of wonderful Dr. Seuss inspired cakes on the same day a dear friend of mine made one for her son’s second birthday.
Those cakes are by seasoned professionals and pastry artists. Now take a look at this one my friend did. It was her FIRST foray into anything like this, and I think it came out amazing:
Ah, sweet undead simplicity.

The Too Many Zombies blog posts one little zombie a day, along with a name and brief bio/obituary.

The artist crams a lot of charisma into these little guys.

As I go through my reader, it’s great to have the science articles and more “serious” art posts peppered with adorable drawings like these.

Very fun to follow.
So many novelty items involve sushi. There are pillows, pencil toppers, fabric prints…all of which pay a well-designed, pristine tribute to the delicacy.
However, since I cannot get myself to eat sushi no matter how many hipsters would deride me for it, I was happy to see the O-No Sad Sushi.

Look at him folks. Look at his sad, pleading glance. He knows his fate.

This adorable little fellow comes with interchangeable eyes, so you can be sure when you’ve really hacked the last bits of life out of him.
Even the packaging is pretty great.

Sad Sushi with be coming to the International Comic Con. Here is the info on where to buy.
