IV Decals by Little Love Medical

Kapow! Dana came across a great accessory line. Little Love Medical makes these great labels to ease the impact of that dreaded IV bag. Their theory is that “spending time in the hospital is difficult for patients, family and friends. Little Love Medical is here to make your stay as pleasant as possible by adding bursts of color and design to everyday hospital products.”

1960′s Retro Library Posters

Looking back at these posters from 40-50 years ago, it is difficult to fathom the possible demise of books for the masses. How cool would it have been to live back just that short time ago?

The Maker is a short tale by Christopher Kezelos, with puppets designed and created by Amanda Louise Spayd. Watch this beautifully haunting story wherein The Maker takes on the most important creation of his life.

Nicoletta Ceccoli’s work is something I wanted to post today especially since I feel the affinity Dana has for blondes in artwork. These in particular hold meaning for me and what Dana is going through.  I like to see the bee as working magic to heal Dana, and that the salamander may represent the drawing away of pain.

**May I make a daily request for the Readership to send Good Thoughts, Positive Energy, Prayers, and any means of conveying support and healing to Dana. She is struggling with getting past impossible pain on an hourly basis. One can only hope doctors are able to find a way to rewire her nervous system. THANK YOU! The Proxy Blogger**

600 Monsters Strong is a noteworthy cause bringing friendly handcrafted monsters to children in need worldwide.

By the looks of things, this has caught the imagination and hearts of many people who have donated these adorable little monsters.

Desktop Goodies 12/13

Soon I will post some holiday goodies, but let’s see what non-celebratory things we have lurking on the desktop today…

To whet your appetite, we’ll begin with this stunning scene (about which I will refrain from commenting):

And for dessert: VITAMIN DONUTS. I believe this was once an actual product.

You can wash those donuts down with a glass of Pilk. It’s deloinkful. (This comes from the parody program “Look Around You”…which is wonderful)

And while we’re on the topic of programs (I wonder if I’ll have to deal with this in my practice someday)…

Does anyone know where this comes from? I can’t place it.

Ooh…getting ideas for future projects from this 17th century secret poison case…

Perhaps I should procure some Pink Pills for Pale People.

Kind of wish I were made of cogs, gears and wires…

Someone’s documented my party habits (except I probably wouldn’t even be drunk):

This post brought to you by Mr. Mandrake Root (wish I could remember where I got this from):

Halloween Countdown: Desktop Treat Bag 10/25

This little baby buggy tends to circulate every year on various sites. Awww…precious.

Swoon-worthy decoration…

I’d like to see real photos of these:

These as well…

A lovely sculpture by Kate MacDowell:

Ugh…there were always the dreaded houses that dispensed awful Brach’s candy when I was a kid. No one even wanted to trade this stuff.

And arguably even worse…

(I’m not anti-raisin, but this is HALLOWEEN…who wants to gather typical lunchbox fare?)

Definitely an inspirational image for awesome kitschy decoration:

Best passive-aggressive note card ever:

Well, hello there.

One lump, or two?

This is either pretty great, or a sad sign made by a dyslexic man named Brian:

Hang on while I hyperventilate because this collection is so fantastic (wish I had the source!):

Groovy retro style pattern:

Not intended for Halloween…but amazing:

Also unrelated, but this octopus looks monstrously friendly. He’s smiling. At you.

Sleeping on the Moon

Posted in astronomy, home, inspiration, products with tags , , , on August 24, 2011 by shewalkssoftly

Here is another one of those items I’d love to have if I had ANY space to put it. There’s something almost lonely, yet peaceful and beautiful about a moon body pillow.

This reminds me of a small dialog I had with a friend many years ago.

Me: Sometimes I feel like I’m on my own planet.
Friend: Yes, but you are the ruler of that planet.

I’d like to combine this with one of those celestial projectors that casts constellations on the walls (if anyone has a good suggestion for a fairly inexpensive one, please share!).

The company also makes a smaller size, which for some reason I find less appealing…though rather inspirational as an item I could make myself (I did make astronomy pillows when I was in college).

Termespheres

Posted in art, craft, inspiration with tags , , on August 4, 2011 by shewalkssoftly

Though he sites MC Escher and Buckminster Fuller as influences, Dick Termes has developed an intriguing art form of his own: the Termesphere.

“Imagine that you are standing inside a transparent ball suspended fifty feet above the Grand Canyon floor. You are higher than some canyon walls and lower than others. You have paints and a brush, and you begin to paint what you see on the inside surface of the ball. You paint the north face, then the east, south, and west. Finally, you paint everything visible above and below you. You move your globe to safe ground and step out to observe your paintings.Walking around the sphere, you see that you have captured the entire three dimensional landscape. In fact, you’ve discovered the structure of your visual experience.”

Termes transforms architecture, landscapes and fantastical worlds in his imagination to spherical representations. They hang in space and roate on a central axis, powered by motors.

I am duly impressed with his combination of creativity, mathematics, theory and execution.

If you really want your mind blown, read his illustrated description of the 6 Point Perspective.

Apparently pop culture bloggers have invented and embraced the word “AMAZEBALLS” for use in juicy celebrity gossip. I feel that word is more fitting in reference to Termespheres.

See more here.
