These are beautiful pieces of art and done in such an unusual way! All that work! WOW! Like an old Victorian home, tombstones just aren’t made the same anymore. I do hope that one day my old stone with catch the attention of a grave rubber.

The craftsmanship of old tombstones was so exquisite. Now people are having their own portraits precisely etched on the stones, but I much prefer the winged skulls!

Hi!
Thanks for sharing some of my Grave Rubbing Art Quilts through your blog. I just finished a new one for the SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates) benefit auction and will be posting it on my blog later today. It is only 12″ x 12″ and shows some of the top portion of my now, current, favorite tombstone. The stone is in the Circular Churchyard in Charleston, SC and marks the final resting place of Desire Peronneau. I am calling the piece “Death of Desire”. It is the skull and wings … just wonderful … though most art quilters don’t really “get it”!
Thanks again!
Susan
