Take Back Halloween!
It’s not Halloween anymore, but I must call attention to this site I saw on The Art of Darkness.
Take Back Halloween is a self-proclaimed “costume guide for women with imagination.” I adore costumes that rally against the idea that women MUST use Halloween as an excuse to flaunt their sexuality.
Not sure what else to be because stores ONLY stock inane sexy costumes? Try a scientist! A mythical woman! A goddess!

YEEESSS!!! I am SO HAPPY you have posted this. for YEARS I have been so aggravated (‘aggravated’ barely begins to describe the anger and frustration) towards this stupid ‘sexy’ Halloween costume craze. No imagination, no creativity and full of really negative implications towards women in general – every time I see a woman (and girls!!!) dress in ‘sexy’ costumes I wanted to scream!! and when blogs and articles describe Halloween as an excuse for women to ‘let their inner slut out’ THAT makes me was to run my head into a wall. er. end rant. thank you for posting this; Sexy Halloween has long been a thorn in my side.

Same here, Devicat! Unless they purchase MEN’S costumes, or choose from a very small joke selection, women literally do not have a CHOICE to avoid slutty outfits for Halloween unless they want to spend hours making their own…or spend heaps of money. Next year I think I’ll have a Take Back Halloween Costume Contest on this blog (not for things from the site, but anything that shows brains/creativity) and award prizes.

I love halloween any time of the year. It is rediculous anymore to find a good costume unlike the slut ones that devicat mentioned lol i totally agree!

Yes, I think women should rebel against the slut trend and actually choose to be INTERESTING!
